Mongu Municipal Council Mongu Municipal Council is a corporate body established under the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019. Welcome to the official page of Mongu Municipal Council.

Our overall objective is to achieve the improved provision of effective, efficient and quality public service through increased community participation in socio-economic development to improve the living standards of the residents of Mongu. This page is aimed at sharing information as well as interacting with everyone who has an interest in civic matters. As Public Relations Unit, we look forward

Former Mongu Mayor, His Worship Mr. Kusiyo Akayombokwa who died on Wednesday has been put to rest in the Lumbae village, Sefula area of Mongu district.
Earlier, scores of mourners gathered at Church of Barotseland for a Church Service and body viewing.
Mr Akayombokwa has been described as a dedicated leader who fought to develop Mongu.

He was the first elected Mayor of Mongu after the amendment of the constitution in 2016.
The late served on the UPND ticket from 2016 to 2021.
His funeral was attended by various senior government officials including the immediate past Mayor of Mongu, Mr. Nyambe Muyumbana.
In a farewell speech, Mr. Muyumbana described Mr. Akayombokwa as a visionary leader who left the stage while the audience was still clapping.

He said the late Mayor understood that leadership was not merely about holding office but rather listening to the people and responding to their needs.

Mongu Town Clerk, Mr. Oswell Mpofu, the District Commissioner, Mr. Akabeswa Imasiku, and the Mayor - elect, Mr. Siwasanyambe Mubiana also attended the funeral.
