The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) is a regulatory body established by the Public Procurement Act No.8 of 2020.
The Authority is charged with the responsibility of regulating public procurement. The other responsibilities include standard setting, planning, compliance and performance monitoring, professional development and information management and dissemination in public procurement.
As a public procurement regulator, one of the communication objectives of ZPPA is to ensure that the public is well informed and sensitised on public procurement. The media are strategic partners that assist in the dissemination of essential information and raises awareness about our mandate.
ZPPA Media Awards celebrate media professionals for their outstanding contributions to promoting transparency, accountability, and public understanding of procurement. Ultimately, the media awards seek to highlight exemplary work that aligns with ZPPA's mission which is “to regulate public procurement to ensure compliance and value for money.”
Below are the award categories.
1. Best Print Media Journalist Award.
2. Best Television Journalist Award.
3. Best Radio Journalist Award.
Evaluation Criteria:
• Accuracy and Factual: Entries will be assessed for the accuracy and factual information presented.

• Relevance to Public Procurement: Submissions should demonstrate a clear connection to public procurement issues and contribute to a better understanding of it.

• Innovation and Creativity: Entries will be assessed for the innovative and creative approaches used to present information.

• Impact and Public Awareness: An entry should demonstrate the extent to which it has raised public awareness or contributed to informed public discourse.

• Adherence to Ethical Standards: Entries should uphold high ethical standards in journalism by promoting fairness, impartiality, and accountability.

Eligibility:
Entries must have been published or broadcast between 1st September 2025 and 31st August 2026 by a Zambian registered and/or authorised media house or agency. The closing date for submissions is 30th September 2026.
Details on Categories:
i. print journalists may submit one piece of work comprising features or news articles published in newspapers;
ii. radio journalists can submit broadcast material (one piece of work) through memory stick or a link; and
iii. television journalists can submit televised content (one piece of work) through memory stick or link.
Requirements:
i. print entry submissions should have a minimum of 600 (six hundred) words and a maximum of 2500 (two thousand five hundred) words;
ii. broadcast materials should have a minimum duration of five (5) minutes and a maximum duration of fifteen (15) minutes; and
iii. all broadcast materials should be accompanied by a transcript.
