NAC AT THE COLLABORATIVE SBC LEARNING EVENT

Communities already have the answers. This week, we're in the room to listen.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council is currently at the 2-day (11 - 12 June) Collaborative Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Learning Event organized by The University of Zambia -UNZA in collaboration with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund - Unicef Zambia.

The meeting brings together health leaders, creative agents, community organisations, faith groups, and partners from across Zambia, focusing on making Social and Behaviour Change programmes work better in the communities.

Key themes include listening to communities, designing with communities, and making sure what we learn on the ground actually shapes national policy because real change starts when we stop talking at communities and start building with them.

TRAINER OF TRAINERS ON LENACAPAVIR FOR PREP

The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), is currently conducting a Trainer of Trainers (ToT) workshop on Lenacapavir (LEN) for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) targeting participants from Senanga, Kaoma, Kalabo, Sesheke, and Mongu Districts of Western Province, Zambia.

LEN for PrEP is an injectable HIV prevention option given every six months.

The training activity aims at:

1. Providing a comprehensive technical knowledge on Lenacapavir for PrEP, including clinical eligibility, administration, safety monitoring, and pharmacovigilance.
2. Orienting participants on National policies, guidelines, and implementation frameworks for LEN rollout.
3. Equipping the participants with facilitation skills and standardized training materials to support cascade training at provincial and district levels.
4. Strengthen capacity for monitoring, reporting and data use related to LEN.

AFRICA PUBLIC SERVICE DAY

Today, the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council participated in the 2026 Africa Public Service Day Commemoration preparatory meeting.

The Africa Public Service Day (APSD) is an annual calendar event commemorated to celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community. Visit the National HIV/AIDS/TB Council stand as it showcases the services provided.

This year’s APSD theme is "Enhancing Public Sector Institutions and Empowering Multi - Stakeholder Partnerships to Achieve Universal Water Availability and Safe Sanitation by 2063". This year’s commemoration will be held at Piazza, East Park Shopping Mall, Lusaka Zambia.

The Republican President to be the guest of honour.

Big step for integrity at NAC!

Yesterday, we welcomed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to our offices for an important meeting, the official start of establishing NAC’s very own Integrity Committee (IC).

So, what is an Integrity Committee?

It’s a body that helps organisations like ours stay honest, ethical, and accountable in everything we do. Under Cabinet Circular CM24 of 2022, ALL public institutions in Zambia are required to have one.

Here’s what the IC will help NAC do:

Check ourselves, are we doing things, right?
Follow best practices in how we work
Make ethical decisions every day
Prevent corruption and bad conduct
Deliver better services to the people we serve

At NAC, we believe that the HIV, AIDS, STIs, and TB response starts with a strong, trusted institution. That means holding ourselves to the highest standards, always.

INTERGRATED CAPACITY -DEVELOPMENT ON CONDOM STOCK MANAGEMENT

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council participated in the integrated capacity-development training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Condom Stock Management which was held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre, Muchinga Annex, Lusaka Zambia.

The training centred on equipping the Youth Resource Centres (YRCs) and the District HIV/AIDS Coordination Advisors (DACAs) with Condom management SOPs and the National AIDS Council Management Information System (NACMIS). The training aimed at strengthening the supply chain collaboration between the DACAs, Youth Resource Centre Managers and the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency ZMMSA), in partnership with the Ministry of Health Zambia.

This is expected to be achieved through the development and implementation of a unified SOP for ordering, receiving, and reporting condom stocks in the NACMIS. In the long run, the training projects and foresees improved efficiency and accountability in stock management of condoms from distribution points to end users.
