CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO MR. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, PRESIDENT-ELECT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA

On behalf of the National Youth Development Council (NYDC), Management, staff and the young people of Zambia, we wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election as President of the Republic of Zambia.

Your re-election reflects the renewed confidence and trust placed in your leadership by the people of Zambia and presents another opportunity to consolidate the progress made during your first term while advancing the country’s development aspirations.

As the National Youth Development Council, we particularly look forward to the continued prioritisation of young people in Zambia’s development agenda. We remain committed to working with your Government to advance youth empowerment, employment and entrepreneurship, skills development, innovation, access to economic opportunities, and meaningful youth participation in governance and national development.

We also commend the young people of Zambia for exercising their democratic right and participating in shaping the future of our nation. As the largest segment of our population, their continued involvement in Zambia’s social, economic and democratic development remains critical.

YOUTH TOWN HALL MEETING HELD AT COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY

The National Youth Development Council (NYDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, today, 11th August 2026, held a Youth Town Hall Meeting at Copperbelt University (CBU), bringing together young people and key stakeholders to engage on issues affecting youth and promote responsible citizenship.

The meeting brought together various stakeholders, including representatives from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Zambia Police Service, Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and other partners, who shared insights and engaged with young people on the importance of peaceful participation, accountability, integrity, tolerance and national unity.

The event was graced by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, who served as Guest of Honour, and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to empowering young people and creating platforms for meaningful youth participation in national development.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of laptops to 10 young innovators, aimed at supporting their innovation, creativity and continued development of digital solutions.
