Rwanda High Commissioner to Zambia and Malawi, H.E. , today led hundreds of Rwandans living in Lusaka in celebrating - Rwanda's National Harvest Day.

is a time to celebrate our culture, heritage, unity, and the fruits of hard work. The event featured traditional songs, dance, poetry, and a shared meal that reflected Rwandan values of gratitude and community.

H.E. Bugingo commended the Rwandan community in Lusaka for their contribution to Rwanda's development and for promoting Rwandan culture abroad.

EIGHT YEARS OF WELCOMING THE WORLD

For the past 8 years, the Government of the Republic of Rwanda has opened its doors to citizens around the world through the Visa-On-Arrival policy.

This policy was introduced to promote tourism, trade, and people-to-people connections.

Here’s how it works:

1. VISA FREE FOR 30 DAYS
Citizens of the African Union, Commonwealth, and La Francophonie receive a visa upon arrival, and the fee is waived for visits of up to 30 days.

2. VISA FREE FOR 6 MONTHS
Citizens of East African Community member states receive a pass/entry visa free of charge upon arrival for a period of 6 months.

3. ONLINE / EMBASSY APPLICATION
Citizens of countries that are not visa-exempt have the option to apply online via the Rwanda Immigration portal, or at the nearest Rwanda Diplomatic Mission before departure.

EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA IN ZAMBIA.

Lusaka, 16th July 2026
As part of its routine consular services, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Zambia, this afternoon officiated at a civil marriage blessing ceremony at the Rwanda High Commission in Lusaka. The ceremony was officiated by H.E. Emmanuel Bugingo, High Commissioner of Rwanda to Zambia and Malawi.

The High Commission provides marriage certification services to Rwandan nationals residing in Zambia and Malawi as part of efforts to support the Rwandan community abroad and formalize unions in accordance with Rwandan law.

According to the High Commission’s records, 29 marriages have so far been officiated this year.

Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Emmanuel Bugingo called upon more Rwandan nationals in Zambia to utilize the available consular services as part of the policy of the Government of Rwanda to facilitate the Community Abroad to access to consular services.

Apart from marriage certification, the Chancery also offers National Identity Cards and passport issuance, birth registration, death certificate issuance, Emergency Travel Documents, Power of Attorney, Certification of Documents and Child registration among other consular services.

The High Commissioner further encouraged Rwandan nationals to uphold Rwandan values and promote Rwandan culture.

This afternoon, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Zambia, H.E. , received Mr. Reuben Mbonye, Ag. Chief Commercial Officer of RwandAir, accompanied by Mrs Glyden Mungaila, Commercial Manager - Zambia.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen air connectivity, boost tourism, and enhance trade and commercial ties between Rwanda and Zambia.

H.E. High Commissioner Emmanuel Bugingo, together with Guest of Honour, Mr. Kangwa Chileshe, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, led over 500 members of the Rwandan community, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and Friends of Rwanda to commemorate Rwanda’s Liberation Day.

The day was filled with reflection, culture, music, and a shared celebration of Rwanda’s journey of unity, resilience, and transformation since 1994.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Government of Zambia and everyone who joined us. Your friendship and solidarity mean so much.
