ECZ IN MITETE BRIEFS STAKEHOLDERS ON THE FORTH COMING POLLS
The Electoral Commission of Zambia through Mitete Town Council met different Stakeholders to brief them on the forthcoming General Elections scheduled for 13th August 2026.
In his Welcoming Remarks, the District Electoral Officer (DEO) for Mitete, Mr. Kennedy Kazanda mentioned that the core
purpose of the meeting was to clarify one or two critical issues relating to the forthcoming elections. He said the briefing was initiated to guarantee the promotion of free, fair, and credible elections.
The Technical Support Officer, Mr. Mishack Chilemo urged all participants to maintain a spirit of unity, peace, and love before, during and after elections. Stakeholders who among them included, the Centre for Peace and Research, the Centre for Democratic Governance and Research, the United Party for National Development (UPND), and Independent Candidates were actively encouraged to share and exchange constructive ideas to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process. The meeting further highlighted the essential roles and responsibilities of monitoring organizations and
stakeholders.
During the same meeting the Stakeholders were informed that the ballot paper verification process was scheduled to take place
on Tuesday, 11th August, 2026. All were required to be present at 09:00 hours to witness this critical exercise and ensure full transparency.
In closing, the DEO expressed profound gratitude to all stakeholders for their attendance
and commitment. A final, resounding call was made to embrace unity, love, and peace as the cornerstone for achieving credible elections. A directive was issued by advising the monitoring organizations to ensure the timely
settlement of dues for their monitors. This proactive measure was necessary to prevent operational issues in the future, thereby ensuring that monitors perform their duties diligently and effectively in the field.
