The Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ) undertook a benchmarking visit to the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) in Botswana.

Following a tour of SEZA’s flagship Special Economic Zone, SSKIA, the two institutions held fruitful engagements focused on shared experiences, opportunities for collaboration and the broader economic and investment landscape in the region.

The delegation also visited KGK Diamonds Botswana, one of SEZA’s successful Single Factory Zone-licensed companies. With approximately 500 employees, KGK Diamonds has ambitious expansion plans that extend beyond diamond beneficiation and jewellery manufacturing into areas such as smart agriculture and green energy.

The LS-MFEZ team further engaged with Letlole La Rona Limited, a property management company and subsidiary of the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), whose investment portfolio extends beyond Botswana’s borders.

WE BAGGED THE BEST EXPORT PROMOTION AWARD!

We are incredibly proud to announce that the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ) was awarded the Best Export Promotion Award at the ongoing 98th Agriculture and Commercial Show, held under the theme "Fostering Trade and Investment."

This recognition is testament to LS-MFEZ growing contribution to expanding the country's presence in regional markets. Our investors in 2025 collectively produced an annual output valued at ZMW10.5 billion, of which ZMW4.5 billion (42.9%) was exported to regional markets, generating valuable foreign exchange earnings for the country.

Today, products manufactured within the Zone reach key markets across the COMESA and SADC regions, with exports reaching countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Would you like to learn more about this and the investment opportunities available within LS-MFEZ? Visit our stand at the ongoing 98th Agriculture and Commercial Show, situated right next to ZRA.

The Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ) has today presented a ZMW10.4 million dividend to its shareholders, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, marking the fifth consecutive year of dividend payments.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, LS-MFEZ Board Chairperson, Boster Chiyaba, reaffirmed the Zone's commitment to creating sustainable value while driving Zambia's industrialisation. Mr. Chiyaba highlighted that this achievement is the result of prudent financial management, strong corporate governance and sustained investor confidence. He further noted that LS-MFEZ has:

• Attracted over USD2.07 billion in approved investments.
• Approved 168 investment projects.
• Facilitated the creation of more than 38,000 jobs.
• Secured significant Government investment in infrastructure, strengthening the Zone's competitiveness and positioning it for long-term growth.

Receiving the dividend, IDC Group Chief Executive Officer, Cornwell Muleya, commended the Board, Management and staff for their outstanding performance, describing LS-MFEZ as one of IDC's flagship investments and a model of how developmental enterprises can successfully combine commercial success with national economic impact. Mr. Muleya said the success of LS-MFEZ demonstrates that developmental enterprises can be commercially viable while attracting investment, creating jobs and supporting industrial growth.

He further encouraged the company to maintain its momentum by investing in critical infrastructure, strengthening service delivery, upholding prudent financial management and maintaining strong corporate governance to ensure long-term sustainability and even greater developmental impact.
