The Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ) has today presented a ZMW10.4 million dividend to its shareholders, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, marking the fifth consecutive year of dividend payments.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, LS-MFEZ Board Chairperson, Boster Chiyaba, reaffirmed the Zone's commitment to creating sustainable value while driving Zambia's industrialisation. Mr. Chiyaba highlighted that this achievement is the result of prudent financial management, strong corporate governance and sustained investor confidence. He further noted that LS-MFEZ has:
• Attracted over USD2.07 billion in approved investments.
• Approved 168 investment projects.
• Facilitated the creation of more than 38,000 jobs.
• Secured significant Government investment in infrastructure, strengthening the Zone's competitiveness and positioning it for long-term growth.
Receiving the dividend, IDC Group Chief Executive Officer, Cornwell Muleya, commended the Board, Management and staff for their outstanding performance, describing LS-MFEZ as one of IDC's flagship investments and a model of how developmental enterprises can successfully combine commercial success with national economic impact. Mr. Muleya said the success of LS-MFEZ demonstrates that developmental enterprises can be commercially viable while attracting investment, creating jobs and supporting industrial growth.
He further encouraged the company to maintain its momentum by investing in critical infrastructure, strengthening service delivery, upholding prudent financial management and maintaining strong corporate governance to ensure long-term sustainability and even greater developmental impact.
