CHITAMBO DISTRICT BOOSTS HEALTH SERVICES WITH NEW FACILITIES
Chitambo District has continued to strengthen its health sector through the construction and equipping of health facilities with modern medical equipment.
Yesterday, the Permanent Secretary for Central Province, Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe, commissioned four Constituency Development Fund (CDF) completed projects. These are the Mukando Maternity Annex, Mpempa Health Post, the Water Reticulation System and Ablution Block at Katonga Maternity Annex and the Lubembe Health Post. The projects were implemented at a total cost of K4,838,584.
The completion of these projects will save residents who previously travelled between 25 and 50 kilometres to access basic health care services. It will also provide mothers with a more conducive environment to safely deliver.
Speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, District Commissioner Ms. Majory Mwape emphasized the New Dawn Government’s commitment, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, to improving infrastructure development in the district. She noted the massive development currently taking place in Chitambo and urged residents to continue supporting government programmes to sustain the development.
Also speaking at the event, Council Secretary Mr. Gerald Hadunka, through Director of Planning Mr. Samuel Nyirenda, disclosed that over K75 million has been spent through CDF from 2022 to 2026. The funds have supported projects in water and sanitation, education, health and road infrastructure, demonstrating government’s dedication to improving the living standards of the people in the district.
The event was attended by senior UPND officials, senior government officials and members of the community.
