"Bringing Local government closer to the people, One year in Office report back session"
[HE], Hon. Cllr. Mzwandile Feliti; Mayor of Maquassi Hills LM delivers his address to the community of greater Lebaleng, Makwassie.
His address amongst us is on challenges that we're raised by the public on a number of meetings that the community has forwarded to the municipality, through community meetings, IDP and other progressive events in the recent past. This meeting is a feedback session to give our communities what has been achieved and what are challenges and how best can we resolve this problem together with communities, given that cooperation between government and citizens is one of the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the tide around for government and society to progress.
Issues raised;
1. Maintenance of highmast lights, the budget allocated was small and couldn't finish the project, we then decided to increase the budget to ensure successful completion of the project.
2. Renovation of the hall, the hall was renovated and the project is finalized, soon it will be officially opened.
3. Few, streets were worked since their state was very bad and unusable, Kala and others we will continue to do others as budget allows us.
4. Sanitation and Water in Ext 06 and Turfloop sections; this two areas were without Sanitation and water services; the municipality through the intervention of the District was able to procure VIP Toilets and Tankers to service this areas.
5. Human Settlement, the municipality through the department of Coghsta will soon deliver houses or RDP houses in Lebaleng, Extension 6 and Turfloop, furthermore, we appeal to the community to take care of this service as some beneficiaries just neglect their houses and they get vandalized and the municipality is later blamed for this thuggery which is the responsibility of communities to protect and care for.
