Emakhazeni Boarding School
The Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, together with Miss Mpumalanga 2026, the MER Ambassador, the Department of Education, the Department of Social Development and the South African Police Service, is at Emakhazeni Boarding School - Emakhazeni Local Municipality as part of the ongoing school awareness campaign.
The learners are being educated about the dangers and consequences of underage gambling and alcohol consumption, including how these behaviours can affect their education, decision-making, relationships, safety and future aspirations.
SAPS is engaging learners on school safety, substance abuse, peer pressure and crime prevention, reminding them that alcohol, drugs and other illegal activities can place their safety and future at risk. Learners are also encouraged to speak up and report criminal activities and seek help when they find themselves in risky situations.
Department of Social Development is helping learners understand the risks associated with alcohol and substance abuse, including the dangers of addiction and the importance of seeking support rather than turning to substances as a way of dealing with pressure or personal challenges.
Miss Mpumalanga 2026, as the MER Ambassador, is encouraging learners to choose purpose over pressure and to make decisions that will protect their future. She reminds them that their current choices can either open doors or create barriers to their dreams. Learners are encouraged to focus on their education, surround themselves with positive influences, resist peer pressure and believe in their potential to become the professionals and leaders of tomorrow.
