⚠️ KRAG UPDATE: VLOEDSKADE
📅14 Mei 2026 - 12:00
⚠️ POWER UPDATE: FLOOD DAMAGE
📅 14 May 2026 – 12:00
Please note that several areas are still without electricity due to floodwaters severely affecting electrical infrastructure. The electrical team is working tirelessly to monitor the situation and carry out repairs where it is safe and accessible to do so. Only infrastructure that is currently within reach and safely accessible can be assessed and repaired at this stage.
The following areas in Vredendal-South are affected: SAPD, Shoprite, KFC, Vredendal High School Hostel, as well as farms behind the hostel. Streets affected include Waterkant Street, Van Riebeeck Street and Grens Street.
Unfortunately, no estimated restoration time can currently be provided as the affected transformer remains underwater and is not accessible for a full assessment.
Please further note that Kliprand’s electricity supply is still off, and Lutzville and Ebenhaeser is also without power until further notice.
The safety of residents and technical personnel remains the highest priority, and all repair work will continue as soon as conditions allow it to be done safely.
