After 2 weeks in bed with pneumonia I stomped off to see what's happening while I lay ill. Well the peaches didn't need anybody around and are in full bloom with green shoots everywhere. My faithful lad Wembezi watered them as required and cleaned up under them without any direction.

Time to put some home recipes up. I belong to this canning group as we used to(!!) do a lot ourselves. Pickled onions, beetroot, pears, apples, curried beans, jams and chutneys. It's not a difficult art and has its own rewards. My tomato sauce was particularly good. The family reckoned as good as All Gold any day!

Well today I got the best compliment I've yet received farming. Was unloading cabbages at the market when a bakkie pulled in driven by a guy in his late 50's. He walked over watching us unload, then put his hand out, introduced himself and said: Those are the best cabbages this market has seen in years. whats the secret? (his werent too shabby mind you). He has been planting cabbage for over 25 years. We spent 20 minutes swapping ideas on the perfect cabbage. Thats Farmers for you, we're just keen to tell others what we know. Try that in the normal business world.
