FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Business forum extends a warm welcome to the newly elected council led by Mayor elect Cllr. Lindi Nhaca, Deputy Mayor Cllr. Thulani Ntuli and speaker Cllr. Dolly Govendor. We look forward to working together in the prosperous KwaDukuza area.

We are confident that your influence as council will be instrumental in the work of advancing change through out the district. At this time we are in favour of Women On Top initiatives that focus on reproductive rights, domestic violence , equal pay, sexual harassment and sexual violence. We trust that such initiatives have your support.

As the business forum we are in aid of young entrepreneurs in our area, as we believe that entrepreneurship is one of the instruments we need to use to reduce the high unemployment rate in our local municipality. We hope that the newly elected council shares the same sentiment in tackling the issues at hand in our area.

Date : 28/07/2021

As the country moves to adjusted alert level 3 on day 489 of the SA Lockdown , The KwaDukuza Municipality Youth Business Forum wishes to encourage all young people of KwaDukuza and surroundings to take their vaccine as from the 01/09/202 in order to assist the country to meet it’s immunity.

On the 19th July 2021 the KDMYBF embarked on walkabout/ inspection of businesses following the recent public unrest and protests that have left numerous local businesses effected ;in a country where already the unemployment rate has risen to a new record high of 32.6% in the first quarter of 2021 from 32.5% in the final quarter of 2020. The devastating factor is that these percentages are made up of young people who are the majority in society.

One of the young people who makes up this percentage is an exciting Young Businessman from KwaDukuza, Nhlakanipho who is an informal trader that sells Fruits & vegs along the R102 at MELVILLE second stop ;who was also badly effected by the recent public unrest that resulted in the infrastructure of his small business being looted and destroyed.

The Kwadukuza Municipality Youth Business Forum inspected Nlakanipho’s business and one of the findings that the structure discovered upon it’s arrival at his establishment ;was that he had suffered losses in not only stock but had destroyed pallets that he uses to display his fruits and Vegs. His Gazebo was also looted and these were the immediate interventions he needed in order to resume business again.

Today the Kwadukuza Municipality Youth Business Forum went back to Nhlakanipho’s establishment to hand over these items and a voucher to help him resume with business again. This is the first of many steps we are taking in order to respond to the needs of young business owners,as we continue with the programme and engagements with public sector.

KDMYBF with the help of private sector and public sector, hopes to reach and assist more YOUTH IN BUSINESS
