Happy World Book Day!
We are joining forces with YearBeyond and pausing every Wednesday afternoon to read together. At Southfield Library we have a spot in the library for readers to get together for dedicated reading time between 14:00 and 15:00. If you can't make it to the library at that time, you can take a few minutes wherever you are to join . Our first pause is today, World Book Day. While not a Wednesday, today is the launch of this exciting addition to the weekly schedule. We hope to see you there!

Hello library lovers,
Southfield Library, together with Plumstead Library and Wynberg Library attended Cllr.Carmen Siebritz - Ward 63's Career Expo on Thursday 9 April 2026. We shared the ins and outs of public librarianship as a career, and encouraged learners to apply for City of Cape Town learnerships, job shadowing, and bursaries. We offer special thanks to Tokai Library for sharing promotional items to add to what we were able to bring and share with those learners who visited our table.

It is 🇿🇦 South African Library Week and we are celebrating the theme of "Reclaiming knowledge, empowering futures" with two activities this week.
📒 On Wednesday 18 March we offer the opportunity for our elders, and anyone who would like to share their journey, to tell their story to us. We are hoping to preserve as much knowledge and wisdom as we can. 📖
🚨On Thursday 19 March the City of Cape Town's Emergency Services joins us for an information and membership drive outside Shoprite Southfield. 🚒🚑 If you have any burning questions, or simply want to know more about what we do, why not stop by for a visit?
