The Large-spotted Genet—one of the Kruger National Park's most fascinating nocturnal creatures! 🌙✨ These sleek, cat-like animals are a treat to spot, and if you're staying in one of the park’s rest camps, you might get a chance to see them after dark. They are agile hunters, but have also adapted to life around humans, often sneaking around camp kitchens and braais (barbecues) in search of a quick meal. They’re fearless and curious, but please remember, please don’t feed them! These wild animals need to fend for themselves, and human food can do them more harm than good. 🍖🚫

If you’re lucky enough to see one, it’s a special reminder of Kruger’s nighttime wonders. With their striking coats of spots and bands, long ringed tails, and sharp, alert eyes, they glide through the shadows with remarkable grace. You can find them in the trees, darting between huts, or, if you're braaing, drawn in by the smell of your cooking! But no matter how bold they seem, they are wild, and we should appreciate them from a respectful distance.

Has anyone had an unexpected Genet visitor while braaing in Kruger? Let us know your stories below!
