YOUTH DAY ACTIVITIES- MAYORAL CUP TOURNAMENT

In commemoration of Youth Day, the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality successfully hosted the June 16 Mayoral Cup Tournament at the Vaalbank Stadium, bringing together young athletes from across the municipality in a celebration of sport, unity, and Youth Day.

Netball, soccer and chess clubs from across municipality competed for top honours in this prestigious tournament. The event showcased exceptional talent, determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship, highlighting the incredible potential of young athletes throughout DRJSMLM .

The sporting event is aimed at promoting youth development, social cohesion, healthy lifestyle and community participation through sports. In observing the 2026 Youth Day theme: “RESET@50 - The future calls”, with the slogan “Our National commitment is the Future, lives in every generation.”

The sporting codes that participated throughout the day include: Soccer, Netball and Chess.
