All municipal licencing offices will be temporarily closed on Friday, 19 June 2026 due to a staff engagement session that will last the whole day. As a result no licencing services will be rendered on this day.

The normal licencing operations will resume on Monday, 22 June 2026 @ 08:00
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience might be caused by the temporary closure.

YOUTH DAY ACTIVITIES- MAYORAL CUP TOURNAMENT

In commemoration of Youth Day, the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality successfully hosted the June 16 Mayoral Cup Tournament at the Vaalbank Stadium, bringing together young athletes from across the municipality in a celebration of sport, unity, and Youth Day.

Netball, soccer and chess clubs from across municipality competed for top honours in this prestigious tournament. The event showcased exceptional talent, determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship, highlighting the incredible potential of young athletes throughout DRJSMLM .

The sporting event is aimed at promoting youth development, social cohesion, healthy lifestyle and community participation through sports. In observing the 2026 Youth Day theme: “RESET@50 - The future calls”, with the slogan “Our National commitment is the Future, lives in every generation.”

The sporting codes that participated throughout the day include: Soccer, Netball and Chess.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr NS Mtsweni congratulated the winning teams but also not overlooking those who did not make. She encouraged them to continue with their passion for sports and commended them on their sportsmanship.

The Municipality extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winning teams and commends every participant who took part in today's June 16 Mayoral Cup Tournament. As we commemorate Youth Day, we celebrate the resilience, talent, and dedication of our young people, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence both on and off the court.
