Nkangala District Municipality in collaboration with Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality hosted a Community-Based Awareness Campaign at Mmametlhake Secondary School aimed at educating and empowering communities on environmental sustainability, public health, disaster preparedness, and social challenges affecting young people.
The school principal, Mr Mogomotsi, welcomed all stakeholders and highlighted the importance of the initiative in equipping learners with valuable information on school applications, career opportunities, and the importance of staying away from drugs.
Various stakeholders, including Nkangala Fire and Rescue Services, the Local Drug Action Committee, the Department of Health and LoveLife engaged learners on risk prevention strategies, reporting of hazards, drug abuse awareness, mental wellness, fire safety, and emergency response procedures.
MMC for Community Development Services, Cllr Dipuo Mahlangu, encouraged learners to make responsible life choices and work together with stakeholders in building safer and healthier communities.
As part of supporting the school, NDM donated a 2500-litre JoJo water tank, 10 calculators, and sanitary pads to assist learners and improve water accessibility at the school.
