Set on 26ha of beautifully landscaped indigenous gardens and coastal forest, with stunning sea views, Crocworld has undergone a massive transformation. New enclosures have been built, infrastructure has been revamped and exhibits have been increased. The bird department has been expanded with a host of new species and our snake tunnel now houses species from various continents. The Centre is now

home to five different crocodilian species, namely: Nile Crocodiles, American Alligators, West-African Slender Snouted Crocodiles, West-African Dwarf Crocodiles and Spectacled Caimen. There is an onsite restaurant, The Fish Eagle Café, with a delectable menu and incredible sea views, it is an awesome way to finish off your day at the park. We are open seven days a week:
9am – 4:30pm
The only day you won’t be able to visit us is Christmas Day. Entrance Fees as of 1 April 2024:
Adults: R120 per person
Children: R90 per person (Between the ages of 4-12 qualify as a child) Children under 4 are free
Pensioners Rate: R85 per person
School Tours: R60 per child
Tour Groups: R100 per person (groups of 20 individuals or more)
Annual Family Membership: R1100 (2 adults and 2 children)

Join us on Saturday, 13 June from 10am as Halfway Malanda Toyota officially launches the all-new Toyota Hilux at Crocworld.

This family-friendly event will feature:

Today is World Environment Day, but protecting our environment isn't something that happens once a year. It's something that happens every day through the choices we make and the understanding we build.

When people think about conservation, they often picture endangered animals. While protecting species is important, conservation is really about protecting entire ecosystems. Every plant, insect, reptile, bird and mammal plays a role in maintaining the natural balance that supports life on Earth.

Take snakes, for example. Many people fear them, yet they help control rodent populations. Birds of prey help regulate other animal populations, while crocodiles are considered ecosystem engineers, helping to shape and maintain healthy wetland environments. Even the smallest species can have a significant impact on the health of an ecosystem.

The challenge facing our natural world is not simply habitat loss or pollution. It's also a lack of understanding. People are far more likely to protect what they know and value.

This is why environmental education is such an important part of conservation. Every fact learned, every question asked, and every wildlife encounter has the potential to inspire a deeper appreciation for nature.

This World Environment Day, take a moment to look a little closer at the world around you. You may be surprised by how many species are quietly working together to keep our planet healthy.

Why do crocodiles spend more time in the sun during winter? 🐊☀️

As temperatures drop along the KZN South Coast, our crocodiles become much more selective about how they use their energy.

Unlike mammals, crocodiles are ectothermic reptiles, meaning they rely on external heat sources to regulate their body temperature. During winter, you'll often spot them basking in the sun for longer periods as they warm themselves and maintain the body temperature needed for essential functions.

This seasonal change also means they:
• Eat less frequently
• Move less to conserve energy
• Spend more time resting between periods of activity

Far from being inactive, this is a remarkable survival strategy that has helped crocodiles thrive for millions of years.

Winter offers a fascinating opportunity to observe these ancient reptiles behaving exactly as nature intended.

Snakes are often feared, but most encounters happen because a snake feels startled or threatened. It's not because it wants to attack.

At Crocworld Adventure and Conservation Centre, education helps people better understand these often misunderstood reptiles and the important role they play in healthy ecosystems.

If you encounter a snake in your garden, home, or while out walking:

🐍 Never try to catch, handle, or kill a snake.
🐍 Keep a safe distance and allow it space to move away.
🐍 Keep children and pets away from the area.
🐍 Watch where you step when walking on trails or through long grass.
🐍 Contact a trained snake handler if assistance is needed.

Snakes help control rodent populations and contribute to maintaining natural balance in the environment.

Their slow movement is an adaptation that helps them conserve energy and survive in environments where resources may be limited.

Key adaptations include:
⏩ Long lifespans, with some species living 80 years or more
⏩ A shell that is part of their skeleton
