YCLSA STATEMENT ON THE RELEASE OF NSC MATRIC RESULTS FOR THE YEAR 2018

04 January 2019

The Young Communist League of South Africa in Moses Kotane province (North West) would like to join the nation in welcoming 2018 NSC matric results as announced by the Minister for Department of Education(DoE).

Simultaneous to welcoming the 2018 matric results, we wish to congratulate North West province class of 2018 for the hard work that earned the province fourth spot in national pass rate rankings with 81.1%. The YCLSA views and evaluates this provincial pass rate as good performance when contrasted to the 79.4% pass rate of last year. This 1.7 % pass rate increment epitomises an improvement given the nature of the unconducive conditions that the class studied in the past year. The unconducive study conditions ranged from some schools lacking proper infrastructure, limited study resources, and other logistics related challenges experienced by both educators and pupils. To some extend classes were disrupted by community riots. Despite all the above mentioned unconducive study conditions, the class of 2018 endured and remained determined henceforth we applaud the improved performance.

Couple to congratulating those who passed their matric, we also wish to extend a message of hope to those who did not make it. Our message to them is that ‘failure is not fatal’ there is still hope, we encourage them to make use of available rewriting opportunities to improve where necessary. As a youth formation, the YCLSA in the province is organized to can support both those who will be looking to access institutions of higher learning and those who did not make it.

We wish to commend educators in the province for the good work that they do, this is despite challenges that hinder the provision of quality learning and teaching. We wish to issue a public notice that this year the YCL will (side by side with SADTU, SGB’s and QLTC) be working hard to improve the quality of learning and teaching through the Joe Slovo Right To Learn campaign. Structures of the YCL in the province will be engaged on the ground in institutions of learning like schools, Tvet colleges and universities across all districts as an endeavour to improve the conditions of learning and teaching. Through this campaign, we will be ensuring that the children of the working class and the poor receive adequate support and quality education. Lastly, we call on the provincial government to convene a provincial summit on education which must address (education challenges) and improve the education system in the province. It is our believe that more still needs to be done to improve the system, there is still unequal provision of education in the province which see private schools unfairly performing better than public schools and even how pupil from this unequal backgrounds are preferred by the system beyond basic education. These are realities that the provincial education summit must look into and resolve on, moreover it is unfortunate that the large number of those who(working class and poor youth)pass from public schooling will be adding figures on the number of the unemployment youth in the province which is our view that this year something needs to be in regard to this. Both private and public sector need to attend to these issues that pose a threat on the development of our province.

SACP B.G MOLEWA DISTRICT CONDEMNS SPECIAL BODIES ABUSE BYTHE HAWKS BOSS NTLEMEZA TO OUR OUTSPOKEN SACP N.W PROVINCIAL SECRETARY CDE MADODA.
The SACP District that is named after a lifelong communist Bernard Gilbert Molewa hereby condemns every enslaved mentality from weakened appointed individuals who sells out.
The earlier exposed Hawks Boss Ntlemeza is an example of a capitalist and captured bureaucratic instructed position aimed at weakening the vanguard party. We like to bring to the attention of the working class society that support to Madoda Sambatha as the SACP N.W Provincial Secretary is a revolutionary obligation. Is therefore proper and revolutionary to shout out the slogan that says Hands Off to N.W SACP Secretary Madoda Sambatha Hands Off. Cde Sambatha leadership as a communist is characterised by the following quotes hence his attack:
If we have chosen the position in life in which we can most of all work for mankind, no burdens can bow us down, because they are sacrifices for the benefit of all; then we shall experience no petty, limited, selfish joy, but our happiness will belong to millions, our deeds will live on quietly but perpetually at work, and over our ashes will be shed the hot tears of noble people.Marx, Letter to His Father (1837)
History calls those men the greatest who have ennobled themselves by working for the common good; experience acclaims as happiest the man who has made the greatest number of people happy.Marx, Letter to His Father (1837)
The attacked and instructed orders to individuals like Ntlemeza leaves much to be desired and cannot be left unattended. We are not much surprised by Ntlemeza and his overheard civilian whispering. B.G Molewa District support call made by the 2nd Deputy Secretary Cde Solly Mapaila.
It’s unfortunate that Captured Hawks boss is of a result that says as put by ― Vladimir Lenin that “All official and liberal science defends wage-slavery, whereas Marxism has declared relentless war on that slavery.”
Just by recruited to SACP we are always reminded of the class hatred by those subscribing to capitalist and nationalist agendas
“As distinct from the old gentile tribal or clan order, the state, first, divides its subjects according to territory...."
This division seems “natural” to us, but it costs a prolonged struggle against the old organization according to generations or tribes.
“The second distinguishing feature is the establishment of a public power which no longer directly coincides with the population organizing itself as an armed force. This special, public power is necessary because a self-acting armed organization of the population has become impossible since the split into classes.... This public power exists in every state; it consists not merely of armed men but also of material adjuncts, prisons, and institutions of coercion of all kinds, of which clan society knew nothing...."
Hands Off to Madoda Sambatha Hands Off …..Ntlemeza back off.
Yours in Class Struggle

YCLSA Statement on the Passing Away of Ahmed Kathrada
28 March 2017
The YCLSA is deeply saddened to hear the sad news that a comrade who has joined YCLSA at the age of 12, Cde Ahmed Kathrad has ceased to exist. We send our heartfelt condolences to the Kathrada family, to the Congress Movement , to the South African people and to all peace-loving internationalists.
Cde Kathrada was the true embodiment of the struggles against the oppressor. He hated capitalism with passion. He further understood the struggle in such a way that he understood clearly the link between the national question and the class questions, both in the South african context as well as in the international context.
He was actively involved in the reconstitution of the underground SACP structure which had hitherto been known as CPSA after it was banned under the Suppression of Communism Act by the apartheid regime.
Out of Cde Kathrada's political stamina, loyalty to a people's cause and extraordinary integrity, as this generation, we can learn a lot. He was loyal but critical to the movement. He was a figure of strenght and a source of inspiration to many. He remained true to the cause of the marginalized till his last breath.
As the YCLSA we remain indebted by his commitment and exemplary conduct as the member of our organization. He fulfilled YCLSA member’s duties. He had carried out YCLSA decisions. He was always to sacrifice for the YCLSA and he was loyal to YCLSA hence our indebtness as an organization.
With the passing away of a man who has lived his life to the fullest, dedicated his entire in the struggle for humanity and with an unquestionable commitment to the liberation of the socially and economically marginalized, the YCLSA calls upon young people of our country not to mourn but to emulate, celebrate and take the baton forward till there is no exploitation of one man by another.
May the soul of the fighting soldier for socialism rest in peace.

Ahmed Mohamed "Kathy" Kathrada was born on 21 August 1929, to Indian immigrant parents in Schweizer Reneke, a small town in Western Transvaal [now North West Province]. While he attended Johannesburg Indian High School, he came under the influence of Dr. Yusuf Dadoo and the Cachalia brothers, who were leaders of the freedom movement in the Transvaal.

Kathrada’s political work began in 1941, at the early age of 12 when he joined the Young Communist League of South Africa, distributing leaflets at street corners for the League. During World War II, he was involved in the anti-war campaign of the Non-European United Front.

In the 1940s, Kathrada first met African National Congress (ANC) leaders, Walter Sisulu, Nelson Mandela, I.C. Meer and J.N. Singh. At the age of 17, he left school to work full-time in the offices of the Transvaal Passive Resistance Council. In 1946, the South African Indian Congress (SAIC) launched the Passive Resistance Movement against the Asiatic Land Tenure and Indian Representation Act, commonly referred to as the "Ghetto Act". The Act sought to give Indians limited political representation and defined the areas where Indians could live, trade and own land. The Act was vehemently opposed. Subsequently, Kathrada participated in the Passive Resistance Campaign of the South African Indian Congress.

Kathrada was one of the 2 000 volunteers imprisoned in that campaign and served a month in a Durban jail along with other ardent resisters such as Dr Monty Naicker, Dr. Yusuf Dadoo, Dr Goonam, George Singh, Mrs Cissie Gool, M.D. Naidoo and others. This was his first jail sentence for civil disobedience.
