Poetry Competition Series Announcement

“YOUR VOICE MATTERS”

Warm greetings from the Thandeka Knowledge Hub Foundation NPC.

We are delighted to announce our Poetry Competition Series under the theme “YOUR VOICE MATTERS”—an initiative designed to empower learners to express themselves creatively, confidently, and authentically through the art of poetry.

This exciting competition is open to Primary and Secondary School learners within the West Rand District, providing a platform for young voices to be heard, celebrated and nurtured.

The competition is a result of our meaningful partnerships with local libraries and community radio stations, including Umphakathi FM 90.4. It builds on key literacy and media milestones such as World Radio Day celebrated in February, and both South African Library Week and World Poetry Day celebrated in March. This initiative is a powerful way to continue celebrating the world of libraries and radio through poetry and youth expression.

Purpose of the Competition

Strengthen the relationship between libraries, schools, and community media
Provide a platform for youth voices to be heard and celebrated
We invite schools, libraries, parents and community stakeholders to support this initiative and encourage learners to participate.

Together we can inspire a new generation of writers, thinkers, and storytellers.
