MEC of Gauteng Infrastructure and Human Settlement,Hon Lebogang Maile together with the Deputy Executive Mayor Cllr. Nontombi Molatlhegi, Council Speaker Cllr. Selina Moumakwe & MMC of Human Settlement Cllr. Amelia Zama of Rand West City Local Municipality issued out title deeds to the community of Afri-Village in Randfontein. The ceremony was to hand out over +-1000 title deeds and also in the process, restore human dignity through this programme.
The MEC also touched on the high importance on owning a title to the house you've received.

The community appreciated the work of government and pledged to work with both Local and Provincial government.

During the council meeting on May 22, 2024, we witnessed the swearing-in of;
- Cllr.Thapelo Legodi from the ANC,
- Cllr. Sonia Swanepoel from the DA, and
- Cllr. Lethabo from the EFF
as new members of the council.

With the addition of Cllr Thapelo Legodi, Cllr Sonia Swanepoel, and Cllr Lethabo, there is renewed hope for a more diverse and inclusive approach to local governance. Their unique perspectives and experiences have the potential to bring fresh ideas and insights to the table, resulting in more effective decision-making and better representation of the community’s needs.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the three appointed councillors and eagerly anticipate their contributions to this new era of inclusive leadership.

PUBLIC NOTICE! !!

WATER RESTRICTIONS CAUSED BY RAND WATER

Rand Water recently issued a media statement highlighting challenges they are experiencing with
the Eikenhof pump station, which has impacted their ability to provide water to their customers.
This occurrence has affected all municipalities, including Rand West City Local Municipality. It
is important to note that the issue stems from Rand Water and not Rand West Municipality. As a
water services provider, Rand Water holds the responsibility of ensuring that water is available
to its customers and that any disruption to its service has a negative impact on all municipalities.
Consequently, Rand West Municipality cannot be held accountable for the water shortages, nor
do they have any influence over Rand Water's operations. The municipality relies entirely on the
water supply from Rand Water and, therefore, cannot take any measures to address the water
shortages. Rand Water is the sole provider of water services to the municipality and is
responsible for maintaining the water supply. We would like to clarify that the issue is
attributable to Rand Water and not to Rand West Municipality.
It is important to note that we are in communication with Rand Water and are actively
monitoring the situation to ensure that we can take appropriate action to mitigate the impact of
this situation. We encourage residents to use water sparingly and apologize for any
inconvenience caused.
