πŸ’šβœ¨ QHS Proud Moments βœ¨πŸ’›

At QHS, we continue to celebrate the resilience, determination, and success of our alumni πŸŽ“

Today, we proudly recognise Luthando Mdlophane, who completed matric as part of the Class of 2020 during the challenging period following COVID-19. Like many learners at the time, she faced difficulties with learning and preparing for examinations πŸ“š, but through perseverance and the unwavering support of QHS educators, she continued to push forward πŸ’ͺ

Although her matric results did not immediately qualify her for university, she refused to give up. Encouraged by her teachers to keep striving for success, she rewrote supplementary examinations the following year and significantly improved her marks ✨

That second chance opened the door to university, where she successfully completed a Diploma in Library and Information Studies πŸŽ“ During her studies, she was also blessed with the opportunity to serve as a Librarian Intern for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health πŸ“–
Her journey is a reminder to all QHS learners and alumni that success does not always happen immediately, but perseverance, hard work, and self-belief can lead to great opportunities 🌟

The spirit of Conabor β€” β€œI shall try” β€” continues to inspire and guide her every day πŸ’šπŸ’›

A heartfelt thank you to Miss Sokhulu, Miss Gasa, Mrs Moolla, Mr Moolla, and all the educators who encouraged and believed in their learners during difficult times she addedπŸ™

Queensburgh High School is incredibly proud of Sifundo Mkhize, from the Class of 2022, on obtaining his Diploma in Human Resource Management from Durban University of Technology. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

πŸŽ“πŸ“š MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL β€” MR N.J PHUNGULA πŸ“šπŸŽ“

At, leadership is not simply about carrying the responsibility of a big school, but about inspiring excellence, building strong values, and creating a culture of hard work, discipline, and respect.

Education remains one of the most powerful tools that can transform lives and open doors for our learners. As a school community, we continue striving towards academic excellence while also developing responsible and confident young people who will positively contribute to society.

I would like to sincerely thank all our stakeholders for their continued commitment and support:

Your collective efforts and dedication continue to make QHS a school of excellence and pride.

As we prepare for the upcoming June examinations, I encourage every learner to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies. Success does not come without effort. Study hard, attend all classes, revise consistently, and believe in your ability to achieve the goals you have set for yourselves.

Our aim is excellence across all grades β€” not only for our Matric learners, but for every learner at QHS. Together, we strive for 100% success through determination, preparation, and teamwork.

Let us continue building a strong culture of achievement and academic excellence.

Meet the QHS Head Boy for 2026 β€” Andre Msimang πŸ‘

β€œMy name is Andre Msimang, and I was born in Durban, a city filled with energy, culture, and resilience. Those qualities became part of who I am from a young age.
Today, I proudly serve as the Head Boy of QHS, a role that has taught me that leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room, but about being someone people can trust, respect, and rely on.

One thing that makes my journey unique is that I have a stutter. For many people, speaking comes naturally, but for me, every presentation, announcement, or speech has sometimes required extra courage. There were moments where I doubted myself or feared being judged because of the way I speak. However, becoming Head Boy showed me something important: a voice does not have to be perfect to make an impact.

My stutter did not define my ability to lead β€” instead, it became proof that challenges do not have the power to decide a person’s future unless they allow them to. Standing in front of the school despite my fears became one of the greatest lessons in confidence and perseverance.

My experience at QHS has shaped me into a stronger and more determined person. Being Head Boy came with pressure and responsibility. Balancing leadership, academics, and expectations was not always easy, but every challenge taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of remaining calm under pressure.
As I look towards the future of QHS, I hope to see a school where every learner feels seen, valued, and capable of achieving greatness regardless of their background or struggles.

If my journey proves anything, it is that courage is not the absence of fear β€” it is choosing to rise despite it.”

Congratulations, Andre, on your appointment as QHS Head Boy 2026. Your courage, humility, and determination are an inspiration to the entire QHS community. πŸ’šπŸ’›
