The South African National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (SANCID) Symposium 2027 Organizing Committee cordially invites academics, practitioners, policy makers and enthusiasts to submit a high quality, original abstract for presentation at this event. All abstracts will undergo a preliminary review process to establish relevance to the conference theme.
Main Theme: “Bridging Science, Engineering and Policy for Climate-Resilient Irrigated Agriculture”
Sub-themes:
●Digital natives, water futures: Young Professionals leading irrigation.
●Smart Irrigation in the face of AI.
●Modern Water Productivity and Conservation Practices.
●Advanced Engineering & Infrastructure.
●Climate and Energy Nexus: Sustainable Solutions for Irrigated Agriculture
The symposium seeks to bring together a multidisciplinary community of professionals, researchers, industry representatives and academics engaged in irrigation and drainage across the Southern African region. Participants from engineering, agricultural science, economics, finance, development and environmental fields will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration and explore innovative solutions for the sector.
The deadline for submission of an abstract for the contributed paper category is 30 October 2026. Notice of acceptance/rejection is 30 November 2026.
Guidelines for abstracts
●Abstracts must relate to the conference theme and sub-themes.
●Abstracts should be submitted electronically to Dr. Zanele Ntshidi at [email protected] and Mr. Simphiwe Maseko at [email protected]
●Abstracts should not exceed 1 page or 500 words and should be written in English.
●The abstract format should be as follows: the margins should be 2.54 cm wide and single line spacing. All text should be in Times New Roman 12 point. The title should be in 14-point bold capitals. Leave one line open (12 point). Follow the Title on the next line by author’s initials and surnames and on the next line by affiliations (institution and Postal address) and contact details (e-mail address).
