Bramley CYCC ππππ
At the end of child protection week, I asked myself how does that look in a children's home.
The answer - giving a child a safe space (home).
Few instances of my week as proof π:
1 ) Attended 'Ouma en Oupa dag' for our Gr.R.
Teacher said 'jy is ook alles'π!
2) Being able to purchase monthly food for our 46 kids. My heart always skips a beat because it is expensive but we believe that good nutrition is crucial to our kids upbringing.
3) Admitted a 10y old year girl.
'Tannie ek het alles saam gebring wat in my kas was', 'dis okay, jy mag maar ons sal seker maak jy het alles', 'my ouma het gese ek moet alles vat, niks van my mag agter bly nie'.
Everthing she has, fits into two boxes.
4) Attended her court hearing.
'Tannie ek het lekker geslaap gisteraand', 'mag ek my appel eet, natuurlik mag jy', 'by my huis mag ek net 1keer geeet het', 'hulle het my met n plank geslaan', 'niemand mag aan jou slaan nie, my lyf', 'oh, ek het dit nie geweet nie'.
On our way back to a safe enviroment, she fell asleep in the car. 'Dankie dat tannie, saam met my gegaan het'. She wrote a note thanking her
housemother for making her feel welcomeβ€.
5) Due to a hectic day, assisted with school pick-ups (I love this part and we listened to Bethel). Pick-up two girls that were admitted early in the year.
Isa asked if she could play hockey at school. I said yes and she explained she is asking, because her parents never allowed her to do anything at school.
Throughout this week, seeing everyone's post. I reaslised for me, this whole week was a testament to what we do and why. Our kids will know that they are important enough to have someone attend their school events, to have someone make sure they have enough food, to have someone encourage them, to have someone be on time when school comes out, to have someone believe in them, to just have someone.......
