Today, we celebrated the strength, resilience and enduring legacy of South African women at the 2026 Women’s Parliament in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Under the theme “Wathint’ Abafazi, Wathint’ Imbokodo: 70 Years of Resistance, 72 Years of Vision – Advancing Gender Justice, Equality and Resilient Economies for All,” we reflected not only on how far women have come, but on the work that still lies ahead in turning the promise of equality into a lived reality for every woman and girl.

I was honoured to serve as Chairperson of the Q&A Session during the first thematic discussion, which focused on strengthening accountability and ensuring that our commitments to gender equality translate into meaningful outcomes for women.

As we mark 70 years since the historic Women’s March, we carry forward the courage of the women of 1956 — determined to build a South Africa where women are equal participants, leaders and beneficiaries of our democracy and economy.

In my capacity as Acting Chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, I had the honour of accompanying the Honourable Speaker to the National Women’s Day Reception hosted by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Town, Mr Ren Faqiang, and Madame Ma Ning.

As we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the historic 1956 Women’s March, we honour the courage, resilience and leadership of the women who came before us, while recognising the responsibility we carry to continue advancing gender equality and the socio-economic empowerment of women.

The occasion also provided an important opportunity to celebrate the longstanding friendship between South Africa and China and our shared commitment to building inclusive and prosperous societies in which women participate fully and equally.

As women, we continue to lead, serve and open doors for those who will come after us. 🇿🇦🇨🇳

We'll be unpacking the progress made in containing the outbreak, vaccination efforts across provinces, and the importance of protecting our livestock industry and food security.

Today, I had the privilege of celebrating my birthday in the best way I know how – by serving our communities.

Together with Umzimkhulu local municipality Executive Mayor Cde Jabu Mzizi and Speaker Cde Mavuma, I joined residents at the Siwa Development Centre in the SJM Sub-Region for a voter registration drive. We also handed over blankets and birthday gift packs to our special voters, sharing this milestone with those who continue to inspire us through their resilience and wisdom.

There is no greater gift than celebrating with the people. As we celebrate together, let us also register together and ensure that our voices continue to shape the future of our country.

Today, members of the National Elections Team conducted an assessment of the ANC's Election Structures (RET, LET, and BET) in the Alfred Nzo Region at Mount Ayliff Town Hall.

The engagement focused on strengthening organisational readiness and intensifying mobilisation efforts in preparation for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

Today, I joined ANC First Deputy Secretary-General Cde Nomvula Mokonyane, fellow ANC NEC members, and the ANC Mpumalanga Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), led by Provincial Chairperson Cde Mandla Ndlovu, at the funeral service of the late Cde Sithembiso Nkululeko Mbuli, the beloved son of ANC NEC member Cde Lindiwe Ntshalintshali.

We continue to stand in solidarity with the Mbuli and Ntshalintshali families during this difficult time, honouring the life of a young cadre whose dedication, service, and commitment to the movement will be remembered.

This week, I am chairing the ANC's interviews for prospective mayoral candidates in Kroonstad, Free State, as part of our commitment to building capable, ethical and service-driven local government leadership.

Joining me on the interview panel are ANC NEC members Cde Cassel Mathale and Cde Sbongile Besani, while ANC Free State Provincial Secretary Cde Polediso Motsoeneng and ANC Provincial Treasurer Cde Mathabo Hlalele are serving as observers.

Through this important process, we continue to identify leaders with the integrity, vision and commitment to drive service delivery, champion community development and strengthen local government in the best interests of our people.
