25 May 1963, the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) – the forerunner of the current African Union (AU) – was established, which is why we are celebrating World Africa Day today. This commemoration represents an affirmation of the African peoples’ right to sovereignty, peace and justice, rights that were denied to them by the atrocities of colonialism.

The Bolivarian Government reaffirms its deep brotherhood with Mother Africa and its firm commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship, strategic cooperation and cultural exchange between our peoples, united by centuries of shared history.

We welcomed the muralist Siphiwe Ngwenya to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in South Africa. He will represent South Africa at the 8th Cultural Festival with the Peoples of Africa, which will take place in Caracas (Venezuela) from 26 to 28 May 2026.
