💜 CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Cervical cancer can affect women at any stage of life, but with regular screening, early detection and appropriate care, lives can be saved.

This month, we encourage women across South Africa to prioritise their health, know the importance of cervical cancer screening and seek professional healthcare advice when needed.

Access to healthcare should never depend on where you live or what you earn. Every woman deserves access to information, screening, treatment and care — with dignity and without judgement.

Let’s start the conversation. Let’s encourage screening. Let’s detect early. Let’s protect lives. 💜

Your health matters. Your life matters.

CELEBRATING HERITAGE MONTH

South Africa is more than one culture, one language or one tradition — we are a beautiful tapestry of many identities woven together.

This Heritage Month, we celebrate the traditions, languages, stories, music, food, clothing and customs that make us proudly South African.

Our diversity is not what separates us — it is what makes us stronger.

From generation to generation, our heritage reminds us where we come from, while inspiring us to build a future we can all be proud of.

❤️💛💚💙 Different cultures. One nation. One South Africa.

Happy Heritage Month! 🇿🇦

🦷 NATIONAL ORAL HEALTH MONTH | EVERY SMILE MATTERS

A healthy smile is more than just appearance — oral health is an important part of overall health and wellbeing.

This National Oral Health Month, let’s make oral health a priority by encouraging regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene and greater awareness of the importance of caring for our teeth and gums.

Most importantly, access to oral healthcare should not depend on your income or circumstances. Every South African deserves the opportunity to smile with confidence and dignity.

Let’s talk about oral health. Let’s prevent where we can. Let’s make care more accessible.

😁 Every smile has a story. Every smile matters.

💊 PHARMACY MONTH | ACCESS. DIGNITY. CARE.

Medication should never be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it.

This Pharmacy Month, we recognise the vital role pharmacies and pharmacy professionals play in making essential medicines accessible to communities across South Africa.

Every person deserves access to the right medication, at an affordable cost, without judgement or discrimination. Whether you live in a city, township, rural community or underserved area, your health matters.

Let’s continue working towards a healthcare system where access to medicine comes with dignity, compassion, and equality.

💛 Because better health begins with access.

As we closed off Women’s Month, the PHSDSBC was honoured to join the DENOSA Women’s Celebration Day held on 26 August in the Free State.

The day was a meaningful celebration of the strength, resilience, leadership and invaluable contribution of women, particularly those who continue to play a vital role in shaping and strengthening our public health and social development sectors.

While Women’s Month may have come to an end, our commitment to recognising, empowering and supporting women continues every day. The Council remains dedicated to creating spaces that uplift women, amplify their voices and contribute towards a future where every woman is empowered to thrive.

Here’s to celebrating women not only during August, but throughout the year. 💛

A mosquito may be small, but the threat it carries is not.

On World Mosquito Day, we recognise the vital role of public healthcare in preventing the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, Zika and chikungunya. Through education, early intervention and community action, we can protect the health of those around us.

Prevention starts with all of us. Remove standing water, protect yourself from bites, and help raise awareness in your community. Together, we can save lives.
