The Czech Ambassador in Pretoria Tomáš Uličný and the The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Hon. Limpho Tau, ceremonially opened Czech Honorary Consulate in Maseru as Mr. André Bothma has been appointed a new Czech Honorary Consul in the Lesotho Kingdom.

We were pleased to also take part in this year’s Partnership Dialogue in Maseru and to celebrate 50 years of cooperation between the European Union and Lesotho. 🇨🇿🇪🇺🇱🇸

The relationship between the European Union and Lesotho remains very important to us. Meetings like this provide an important opportunity to deepen cooperation and reaffirm our shared commitment to partnership, dialogue, and sustainable development.

Yesterday, 21 May 2026, both partners convened this meeting in .

Serving as the centrepiece of , this dialogue reaffirmed a proud 50-year-old partnership built on , , and green, sustainable development.

Co-chaired by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Limpho Tau, and H.E. EU Ambassador Mette Sunnergren, the meeting brought together members of His Majesty’s Cabinet and senior officials alongside Ambassadors and diplomats from Member States.

🇪🇺 Today we celebrate Europe Day - a day of unity, cooperation, and shared European values.

On Thursday, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria joined the Europe Day celebrations hosted by the EU Delegation to South Africa 🇿🇦 together with our European partners and friends.

We were delighted to share traditional Czech cuisine and drinks with the guests, engage in conversations, and introduce people to our country and its culture. 🇨🇿

Thank you to the EU Delegation for organizing such a warm and inspiring event and for bringing together the European community in Pretoria.

Four critically endangered mountain bongos have successfully returned to their native habitat in Kenya, thanks to the incredible dedication of the Dvůr Králové Safari Park in the Czech Republic 🇨🇿

The Czech Republic is deeply committed to protecting endangered species and preserving biodiversity around the globe. Whether it’s returning antelopes to the Mount Kenya wildlife conservancy or our long-standing conservation projects saving the Derby Eland in Senegal, Czech wildlife experts are actively contributing to nature protection across Africa.

As every year, Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre organised an event of commemoration with the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria🇨🇿🇿🇦

Yesterday, it was a screening of a documentary film called Letters from Brno, attended by the author herself, Ms. Karen Kruger, whose mother and aunt were both among Nicholas Winton‘s children🚂

The film follows a personal story of parental love and sacrifice during World War II, with a unique element represented by letters from parents who remained in Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia to their children, who escaped a terrible faith thanks to the unimaginable sacrifice of their parents✉️

In addition to Ms. Kruger and Founder and Executive Director of the Centre, Ms. Tali Nates, the film was also introduced by Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic.

The screening was followed by a discussion with the author and the director, Mr. Jeffrey L. Gary, who was also present🎥

Yesterday we commemorated 107 years since the founding of independent Czechoslovakia.
28 October reminds us that freedom and national sovereignty are not given. They are a result of courage, unity and belief in the values on which our modern state is built🇨🇿

We would like to express our gratitude to all attendees of this year’s annual reception on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia for the abundant turnout🎉🥂

Special token of appreciation belongs to the Honourable Mr. David Mahlobo, the Deputy Minister of the Department of Water and Sanitation South Africa, who honoured us with his presence and heartfelt words🇿🇦

This year, part of the feast was prepared by a chef from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and participants included a number of graduates of the Cool Czechia program🎓

We look forward to celebrating our country’s sovereignty for many more years to come!

On October 3 and 4, elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic were held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria, as well as at other Czech diplomatic missions around the world🌍
