Let's look out for these little guys!

So, what's so great about dung beetles? 🤔

They are mighty recyclers! By burying animal dung, the beetles loosen and nourish the soil and help control fly populations.

🚨 PLEASE BEWARE!
Dung beetles are currently using the roads in Dinokeng Game Reserve as their preferred crossing route.
Please keep an eye out and avoid driving over them. They’re small, they’re busy, and they’ve already got enough 💩 to deal with.

Brilliant sighting of an elephant bull on Saturday morning in Dinokeng.

Elephants primarily throw dust on themselves as a means of protection against temperature/climate conditions or to act as an insect repellent.

Fine dust as well as mud helps to protect the elephant from harmful UV rays in harsh, sunny conditions.

This earthy layer also creates a barrier to aid in irritating or harmful insect bites from ticks, fleas and mosquitoes.
