TSHWANE KAN NIE LANGER SWAK DIENSLEWERING IN PRETORIA-NOORD IGNOREER

Die Tshwane-metro kan nie langer arms gevou sit en toekyk hoe dienslewering verswak en infrastruktuur in Pretoria-Noord uitmekaar val nie.

Kragonderbrekings het ’n alledaagse verskynsel geword. Inwoners sit byna elke week en dikwels oor naweke ure lank sonder krag.

Hierdie krisis plaas groot finansiële druk op huishoudings en ondernemings wat afhanklik is van betroubare kragtoevoer.

Die toestand van die paaie in Pretoria-Noord is kommerwekkend met amper geen straat sonder slaggate nie.

Vanaf die Rachel de Beer-duikweg by die ingang na die noorde van die stad, is die pad in ‘n haglike toestand en word inwoners gedwing om slegs van een baan gebruik te maak. Dit veroorsaak verkeersopeenhopings wat reeds ‘n ernstige probleem is weens die aantal skole wat direk langs die roete geleë is.

Die kruising by Ben Viljoen- en Rachel de Beerstraat is ook in ʼn haglike toestand. Nie net is die kruising vol slaggate nie, maar daar hang ‘n straatlig gevaarlik oor die pad.

Terwyl inwoners gemaan word om water te bespaar, verloor die metro daagliks duisende liter water weens honderde lekkasies.

Hierdie verliese, saam met die kragonderbrekings en padverval, wys op ’n metro wat sy basiese infrastruktuur nie meer kan onderhou nie.

Inwoners het hul vertroue in die metro verloor en sommige kies om te verhuis na gebiede waar beter dienste gelewer word.

Die VF Plus het reeds ’n formele brief geskryf aan die burgemeesterskomiteelid vir menslike nedersettings, Aaron Maluleka, en die burgemeester, dr. Nasiphi Moya, om te vra waarom inwoners se klagtes geïgnoreer word.

Die VF Plus sal aanhou druk uitoefen totdat die metro verantwoordelikheid neem en kragtoevoer, waterbestuur en padinstandhouding prioritiseer.

Inwoners verdien ’n metro wat sy infrastruktuur beskerm en dienslewering prioritiseer.

Op 4 November 2026 het kiesers die geleentheid om vir die VF Plus te stem wat behoorlike dienslewering en infrastruktuuronderhoud voorop stel. - Rdl. Rina Marx

TSHWANE CAN NO LONGER IGNORE POOR SERVICE DELIVERY IN PRETORIA NORTH

The Tshwane Metro can no longer stand idly by and look on as service delivery deteriorates and infrastructure crumbles in Pretoria North.

Being stranded without electricity has become a daily occurrence. Residents experience electricity outages lasting hours almost every week, and often over weekends.

This power crisis puts enormous financial pressure on households and businesses that depend on reliable electricity supply.

The condition of roads in Pretoria North is equally alarming as nearly all the streets are riddled with potholes.

The road from the Rachel de Beer underpass, where one enters the northern part of the city, is in a terrible condition and residents are forced to use only one lane. This exacerbates traffic congestion, which already poses a serious problem due to the number of schools located directly along the route.

The intersection at Ben Viljoen and Rachel de Beer is also in a terrible condition. Not only is the intersection full of potholes, but a street light is also precariously hanging over the road.

While residents are urged to save water, the Metro loses thousands of litres of water every day due to hundreds of leaks.

These losses, coupled with power outages and deteriorating roads, indicate that the Metro is no longer able to maintain its basic infrastructure.

Residents have lost confidence in the Metro and some are choosing to relocate to areas where service delivery is better.

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) addressed a formal letter to the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Aaron Maluleka, and the Mayor, Nasiphi Moya, asking why residents’ complaints are being ignored.

The Freedom Front Plus will keep pressuring the Metro until it takes responsibility and prioritises power supply, water management and road maintenance.

Residents deserve a metro that protects its infrastructure and prioritises service delivery.

On 4 November, residents have the opportunity to vote for the Freedom Front Plus, which puts proper service delivery and infrastructure maintenance first. - Cllr Rina Marx

TSHWANE SE R12.2 MILJARD BATEKRISIS: KOALISIE SE INFRASTRUKTUURVERRAAD TEEN BELASTINGBETALERS

Die jongste amptelike verslag van Tshwane se strategiese batebestuurskomitee (Samco) wys dat ’n bedrag van R12,2 miljard vasgevang is in projekte wat reeds gebou is, half voltooi is of waarvoor planne en betalings lankal gedoen is, maar wat nooit amptelik op die metro se bate-register gelaai is nie.

Hierdie fondse, wat infrastruktuur verteenwoordig wat gemeenskappe dringend nodig het, is vasgepen in administratiewe laksheid en onbevoegdheid.

Terwyl inwoners daagliks sukkel met verweerde paaie, donker strate en behuisingsprojekte wat stilstaan, word die voltooide of halfvoltooide werk eenvoudig nie wettig oorgedra nie.

Omdat dit nie op die aktiewe bate-register verskyn nie, mag die metro dit nie in stand hou of verseker nie.

Die gevolg is dat eiendom verwaarloos word, skade intree en projekte later teen hoër koste weer aangepak moet word.

Hierdie toedrag van sake beteken dat belastingbetalers twee keer betaal: eers vir die bouwerk en dan weer vir die herstel van skade wat intussen ontstaan.

Dit is ’n direkte gevolg van min tot geen projekbestuur en ’n kultuur van dissiplineloosheid wat die metro se finansiële gesondheid en dienslewering ondermyn.

Die omvang van die batekrisis is des te meer verraad omdat dit juis die sektore raak waar gemeenskappe die swaarste kry onder dienslewering wat in duie stort. Die R12,2 miljard wat vasgevang is, kon reeds ’n tasbare verskil gemaak het in die daaglikse lewe van inwoners.

Daar moet dringend ’n onafhanklike forensiese oudit gedoen word om vas te stel wie verantwoordelik is vir hierdie vertragings en om te verseker dat projekte nie langer lamgelê word nie.

’n Hersiening van die metro se projekbestuursmodel is noodsaaklik om te keer dat belastinggeld in die toekoms weer so vermors word.

Inwoners moet registreer en op 4 November vir die VF Plus stem om ʼn tasbare verskil in hul lewensomstandighede teweeg te bring. - Rdl. Nick Pascoe

TSHWANE’S R12,2 BILLION ASSET CRISIS: COALITION’S INFRASTRUCTURE BETRAYAL

The latest official report by Tshwane’s Strategic Asset Management Committee (SAMCO) reveals that an amount of R12,2 billion is trapped in projects that have already been completed, are partially completed, or for which plans and payments were made long ago, but that were never officially loaded onto the Metro’s asset register.

These funds – which represent infrastructure desperately needed by communities – are trapped due to administrative negligence and incompetence.

While residents must contend with crumbling roads, dark streets and stalled housing projects on a daily basis, completed or partially completed projects are not legally transferred.

And because these assets do not appear on the active asset register, the Metro may not maintain or insure them.

Consequently, properties are neglected, damage occurs and projects have to be redone at higher cost at a later stage.

This basically means that taxpayers pay twice: first for the initial construction and then again for the repair of damage that occurred in the interim.

This is a direct consequence of poor to no project management and a culture of indiscipline, which are undermining the Metro’s financial health and service delivery.

This asset crisis amounts to a betrayal of taxpayers, because it affects precisely those sectors and communities that bear the brunt of collapsing service delivery. The trapped R12,2 billion could have made a tangible difference to residents’ daily lives.

An independent forensic audit should urgently be conducted to determine who is responsible for these delays and to ensure that projects do not remain stalled.

In addition, the Metro’s project management model should be reviewed to prevent tax money from being squandered like this in the future.

Residents should register and vote for the Freedom Front Plus on 4 November to bring about tangible improvement in their daily lives. - Cllr. Nick Pascoe

EMFULENI-MUNISIPALITEIT FINAAL UIT OK-GEBOU GESKOP

Die Emfuleni-plaaslike munisipaliteit (Evaton, Sebokeng, Vaal Oewer, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging) is finaal uit die OK-gebou in President Paul Krugerstraat, Vanderbijlpark, geskop nadat die eienaars die huurkontrak beëindig het weens die munisipaliteit se onvermoë om huur te betaal.

Die gebou het die departement van finansies gehuisves, maar die eienaar het reeds in Desember 2025 aangedui dat die kontrak op 31Mei 2026 sou eindig.

Tog het die munisipale bestuurder, April Ntuli, eers vandeesweek Woensdag werkers opdrag gegee om die gebou teen vandag (Vrydag) te ontruim.

Die munisipaliteit het drie maande gelede besluit om nie langer die maandelikse huurgeld van R1,4 miljoen te betaal nie.

In stede daarvan is ’n groot gedeelte van die Absa-gebou in FW Beyersstraat teen R1,2 miljoen per maand gehuur.

’n Onlangse besoek het egter gewys dat die gebou nog nie gereed is om die 220 amptenare te huisves nie. Kontrakteurs is steeds besig om kantore te omskep, daar is geen internetverbinding nie en die dienssentrum kan daarom nie navrae of betalings hanteer nie.

Hierdie jongste episode volg op ’n geskiedenis van wanbestuur waar die OK-gebou se eienaar al verskeie kere die deure moes sluit totdat agterstallige huur betaal is. Selfs die parkeerarea is al met rioolwater oorstroom toe ’n pyp gebars het.

Die inwoners van Emfuleni betaal nou die prys vir ’n administrasie wat nie sy basiese verpligtinge kan nakom nie.

’n Skrywe is reeds aan die munisipale bestuurder gerig waarin ‘n verduideliking geëis word oor die nie-betaling van huur en die versuim om die Absa-gebou betyds gereed te kry.

Die tyd het aangebreek om ’n einde te maak aan die ANC se wanbestuur wat gemeenskappe straf.

Inwoners moet seker maak hulle is geregistreer om op 4 November te stem vir die VF Plus wat die behoeftes van kiesers eerste stel. - Rdl. Gerda Senekal

EMFULENI KICKED OUT OF OK BUILDING FOR GOOD

The Emfuleni Local Municipality (Evaton, Sebokeng, Vaal Oewer, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging) has been kicked out of the OK Building in President Paul Kruger Street, Vanderbijlpark, for good with the owners finally terminating the lease due to the Municipality’s failure to pay rent.

The Building housed the Department of Finance, and the owner notified the Municipality in December 2025 that the contract would terminate on 31 May 2026.

Yet the Municipal Manager, April Ntuli, waited until this Wednesday to instruct workers to vacate the Building by today (Friday).

Three months ago, the Municipality decided to stop paying the monthly rent of R1,4 million.

Instead, a large part of the Absa Building in FW Beyers Street was leased at R1,2 million per month.

A recent visit, however, revealed that this Building is not yet ready to accommodate the 220 officials. Contractors are still renovating offices and there is no internet connection, so, the service centre cannot process enquiries or payments.

This is just the latest instalment in a long history of mismanagement, which compelled the owner of the OK Building to lock its doors on several occasions until the outstanding rent was paid. In addition, the parking area was once flooded with sewage when a pipe burst.

Emfuleni residents are paying the price for an administration that is unable to meet its basic commitments.

An official letter was sent to the Municipal Manager, demanding an explanation for the failure to pay the rent as well as the failure to have the Absa Building ready in time.

It is time to put a stop to the ANC’s maladministration plaguing communities.

Residents must ensure that they are registered to vote on 4 November for the Freedom Front Plus — the party that puts residents’ needs first. - Cllr. Gerda Senekal
