Ever heard of Marakele?

Its name literally means "place of sanctuary" in Setswana, and it earns it. Tucked into the Waterberg mountains, Marakele National Park is home to the largest breeding colony of Cape vultures on Earth.

Turns out sanctuary isn't just for wildlife. Time outdoors has long been linked to lower stress and a better mood, so if you need a reset, this might be it.

3 days to go.

Tragic Discovery Of Human Remains In Kruger National Park’s Mestel Dam Following Search Operations

An intensive search operation in the Pretoriuskop section of the Kruger National Park (KNP) has ended in tragedy, following the discovery of human remains in Mestel Dam.

The incident began in the early hours of 28 August 2026 when Field Rangers intercepted four individuals allegedly engaged in illegal net-fishing. While three individuals complied with instructions and were safely taken into custody, a fourth entered the dam to evade arrest.

Recognising the immediate danger of the water, teams launched an instant rescue operation, searching tirelessly for days inside and outside the park boundaries: https://shorturl.at/6EIkE
