President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with President Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit, held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and South Africa. President El-Sisi commended the continued development in relations between the two countries and expressed his aspiration to elevate them to the level of a strategic partnership. He highlighted the importance of the ongoing work to upgrade the Joint Committee to the level of a High-Level Joint Committee, so that it may serve as a comprehensive institutional framework for advancing economic relations and enhancing bilateral trade and investment, commensurate with the capabilities of the two countries and their leading roles at both the African and international levels. President El-Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s interest in strengthening cooperation with South Africa on continental connectivity projects and in establishing more efficient trade corridors between the north and south of the continent, thereby contributing to greater economic integration among African countries and serving the interests of their brotherly peoples.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy added that President Ramaphosa expressed his appreciation for President El-Sisi’s commitment to consultation and coordination with South Africa, affirming his country’s keenness to deepen cooperation with Egypt across various fields and to build on the historic ties and common frameworks that bring the two countries together, foremost among them the African Union, the NEPAD Agency and the African Continental Free Trade Area, in addition to their shared membership in BRICS. President Ramaphosa also welcomed President El-Sisi’s emphasis on the priority of connectivity projects and trade corridors linking the north and south of the continent.
The Presidential Spokesman explained that the two Presidents stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to support security and stability and to resolve conflicts through peaceful means. They also affirmed that Egypt and South Africa bear a particular responsibility for strengthening joint African action and consolidating African positions in international fora. The meeting also addressed the ongoing crises and conflicts across the African continent. President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting the stability and sovereignty of all African states, foremost among them brotherly Sudan, stressing that Sudan’s security, sovereignty, stability and unity constitute a red line that Egypt will not allow to be crossed. For his part, President Ramaphosa affirmed his country’s commitment to continuing coordination and consultation with Egypt and praised Egypt’s active role at both the African and international levels.
The discussions also addressed the latest developments in the Middle East. The two sides reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause will remain the central issue and that the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy is the guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. With regard to the issue of water, both sides stressed the need to respect the rules of international law and to work to safeguard the rights of states in a manner that preserves regional security and stability.

التقى السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي، اليوم، بالرئيس سيريل رامافوزا، رئيس جمهورية جنوب أفريقيا، وذلك على هامش القمة الثامنة عشرة لتجمع البريكس المنعقدة بالعاصمة الهندية نيودلهي.
وصرح المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية بأن اللقاء تناول سبل تعزيز العلاقات الثنائية بين مصر وجنوب أفريقيا، حيث أشاد السيد الرئيس بما تشهده العلاقات من تطور مستمر، معرباً عن التطلع للارتقاء بها إلى مستوى الشراكة الاستراتيجية. ونوّه سيادته بأهمية العمل الجاري لترفيع اللجنة المشتركة إلى مستوى اللجنة العليا، لتصبح إطاراً تنظيمياً جامعاً لتطوير العلاقات الاقتصادية وتعزيز التجارة والاستثمارات المشتركة، بما يتناسب مع قدرات البلدين ودورهما الرائد على المستويين الأفريقي والدولي. كما أكد السيد الرئيس اهتمام مصر بتعزيز التعاون مع جنوب أفريقيا في مشروعات الربط القاري وإنشاء ممرات تجارية أكثر كفاءة بين شمال وجنوب القارة، بما يسهم في دعم التكامل الاقتصادي بين الدول الأفريقية وتحقيق مصالح شعوبها الشقيقة.
وأضاف السفير محمد الشناوي أن الرئيس رامافوزا أعرب عن امتنانه لحرص السيد الرئيس على التشاور والتنسيق مع جنوب أفريقيا، مؤكداً حرص بلاده على تعميق التعاون مع مصر في مختلف المجالات، والبناء على ما يجمع البلدين من روابط تاريخية وأطر عمل مشتركة، في مقدمتها الاتحاد الأفريقي ووكالة النيباد واتفاقية التجارة الحرة القارية الأفريقية، فضلاً عن عضويتهما في تجمع البريكس، مثمناً ما طرحه السيد الرئيس بشأن أولوية مشروعات الربط والممرات التجارية بين شمال القارة وجنوبها.
وأوضح المتحدث الرسمي أن الرئيسين شددا على أهمية تكثيف الجهود الرامية إلى دعم الأمن والاستقرار وتسوية النزاعات بالوسائل السلمية، وأكدا أن مصر وجنوب أفريقيا تضطلعان بمسؤولية خاصة في تعزيز العمل الأفريقي المشترك وتوحيد المواقف الأفريقية في المحافل الدولية. كما تطرق اللقاء إلى الأزمات والنزاعات الجارية بالقارة الأفريقية، حيث أكد السيد الرئيس حرص مصر على دعم استقرار وسيادة كافة الدول الأفريقية، وفي مقدمتها السودان الشقيق، مشدداً على أن أمن السودان وسيادته واستقراره ووحدته يمثل خطاً أحمر لن تسمح مصر بتجاوزه. ومن جانبه، أكد الرئيس رامافوزا حرص بلاده على مواصلة التنسيق والتشاور مع مصر، مشيداً بالدور المصري الفاعل على الصعيدين الأفريقي والدولي.
كما تناولت المباحثات مستجدات الأوضاع في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، حيث تم التأكيد على أن القضية الفلسطينية ستظل القضية المركزية، وأن إقامة الدولة الفلسطينية وفقاً لمقررات الشرعية الدولية هو الضمان لتحقيق السلام الدائم والاستقرار في المنطقة. وفيما يتعلق بقضية المياه، شدد الجانبان على ضرورة احترام قواعد القانون الدولي والعمل على ضمان حقوق الدول بما يحافظ على الأمن والاستقرار الإقليمي.
