Current situations being faced by multiple organisations is the problem of having positions available for employment, yet no skilled employees or employees that are not truly qualified to work in those positions.

On to pressing matters, Businesstech released a news article stating that new actions are going to be taken against directors that have been avoiding legal repercussions in multiple state owned and private companies, to bring them to account for Financial Irregularities and further misconduct.

A post from Businesstech highlights the risks of what can befall an establishment if the necessary precautions aren't taken to pro-actively mitigate risks.

A company was sued and lost the case, due to the murder of a financial manager by a security guard whom abused his access privileges, in turn costing the company dearly.

Discussions that have flared up due to the incident brings up a debate whether companies are now to be held liable for the actions of their employees, however this will not pose significant risk if the necessary procedures have been catered to.

In this instance the situation may have been avoided if a detailed background had been done on the employee/culprit in question, with regular polygraph examinations and criminal background checks.

South African Airways (SAA) is being put under pressure by unions such as NUMSA and NTMU due to recent talks about restructuring its business model and risking retrenchment of many employees.

The Unions are threatening a complete shutdown of the SAA if quote: "if SAA continues with this arrogance."

This can see a slow down of product delivery for logistics companies and the free movement around the country, a date has not yet been provided for the possible strike however counter planning to this is advised.

A post released by Business Tech highlights an increase of home burglaries from the prior year of 0.8% recorded from 1st of April 2018 to 31st of March 2019, with the number of armed robberies sitting at a shocking 22, 431 reported robberies.

Crime statistics published by the South African Police Service (SAPS) shows there were 22,431 armed robberies – aggravated robbery – at residential premises in South Africa between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019, a 0.8% increase from the prior year.

Recent violent riots have been advised by the ANC representatives as an act of opportunists taking advantage of the chaos to loot, making us concerned that these "spontaneous riots" are a result of a criminal syndicate.

Multiple Unions such as SATAWU and SANTACO have stated that they have no part in the recent riots and are working closely with authorities to bring the matters under control.

The targets of the riots seem to be targeted at foreign nationals, however the ANC denies it being part of Xenophobic attacks. Arrests have already been made but the situation is too unpredictable to say we are in the clear just yet.

Logistics companies and stores within the Johannesburg and Pretoria CBD's are advised to exercise extreme caution to avoid damages to cargo and possible injury or death of employees.

If violence continues it has been hinted that the SANDF will get involved to bring order back to the streets.

The 2019 Analysis of Corruption Trends Report reveals that the level of corruption in the South African Police Services (SAPS), has shot up to overtake the headlight spot over other "sectors such as schools, health and local government", stated by Business Tech.

SAPS accounts for 9.2% of the countries recorded level of corruption, with abuse of power and bribery standing at the forefront. Abuse of power accounting for 35.7% and bribery accounting for 30.6% of the recorded corruption within SAPS.

The damages towards SAPS is immeasurable as people grow less trusting towards our law keepers. One must ensure that such employees doesn't enter the work environment or be allowed to thrive.
