🕊️ On the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, we honour those working to build peace and security around the world.

This year’s theme, Invest in Peace, highlights the need for continued support for peacekeeping and peacebuilding. Australia and South Africa share a strong commitment to these goals, recognising that lasting peace depends on international cooperation and investment.

Australia supports UN peacekeeping through personnel deployments, capacity building, equipment and airlift support, Australia is also a top 10 donor to the UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund.

In South Africa, Australian Defence Attaché Colonel Karen Such represented Australia at the SANDF commemoration in Bloemfontein, attended by SANDF leadership and families of fallen peacekeepers.

Outbreaks of Ebola disease have occurred in parts of Africa. Entry restrictions may be imposed at short notice for travellers who have visited countries affected by Ebola.
