𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos today held discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
During the meeting, Minister Gedion noted that Ethiopia and Nigeria enjoy a longstanding bilateral relationship, with diplomatic ties dating back to the 1960s. He underscored the importance of continued coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest to further strengthen the longstanding relations between the two countries.
For her part, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressed Nigeria’s strong interest in further enhancing bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed her country’s readiness to work closely with Ethiopia across a range of sectors.
On the occasion, Hana Arayasellassie, Minister of Justice of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, signed an Agreement on the Exchange or Transfer of Sentenced Persons between the two countries.
The Agreement is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the justice institutions of Ethiopia and Nigeria and provide an important legal framework for collaboration in this area.
The two sides reaffirmed their confidence that the discussions held today, together with the signing of the Agreement, will further deepen the partnership and cooperation between Ethiopia and Nigeria
