16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children

From 25 November to 10 December, the Department of Social Development (DSD) joins the nation and global community in standing against gender-based violence (GBV).

This United Nations-endorsed campaign calls on all sectors of society to unite in protecting the rights and dignity of women, children, youth, persons with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Together, we can build stronger, safer communities where every person lives free from fear and harm.

ANNOUNCEMENT: CALL FOR EXHIBITION APPLICATIONS
Closing Date: Friday, 24 October 2025

The Central Drug Authority (CDA) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for exhibitions at the 4th Biennial Summit on Substance Use and Illicit Trafficking, taking place from 26–27 November 2025 at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre, Gauteng.

Exhibitions are a key feature of the Summit, providing an interactive platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and showcasing innovative programmes, services, and interventions that address substance use and illicit trafficking. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to highlight their contributions to prevention, treatment, harm reduction, research, law enforcement, community initiatives, and socio-economic development, in alignment with the National Drug Master Plan (NDMP).

Applications are invited from:

·Civil society organisations (NGOs, CBOs, FBOs)

·Research and academic
·International organisations and development partners
·Private sector stakeholders
·Community-based initiatives and peer support groups

Interested organisations must submit an application form that includes:

·A brief organisational background
·Details of proposed exhibition content
·A motivation demonstrating alignment with the NDMP and the objectives of the Summit

Important Dates

·Applications Open: 3 October 2025
·Applications Close: Friday, 24 October 2025

·Notification of Successful Exhibitors: Early November 2025

Applications and exhibition content must be submitted to the CDA for review and approval.

Call for Presentation Submissions: 4th National Summit on Substance Use and Illicit Trafficking
Submission Deadline: Close of Business – 26 October 2025

The Central Drug Authority (CDA) invites presentation submissions for the 4th Biennial National Summit on Substance Use and Illicit Trafficking, under the theme : From NDMP Policy to Practice: Strengthening Community Voices for Effective Implementation.

Presentations should:

•Focus on grassroots challenges, lived experiences, and community-driven solutions.
•Be evidence-based, action-oriented, and aligned with the National Drug Master Plan (NDMP) principles and goals.
•Follow the 5-minute format outlined below:

1.Define the problem or gap (1 min)
2.Present evidence or example (2 min)
3.Propose solutions or resolutions (2 min)

Submissions must include a one-page summary outlining the issue, evidence, and proposed solution.

Suggested focus areas include (but are not limited to):
•Burden of harm from licit substances (alcohol, to***co, cannabis, emerging products)
•Public health and social protection
•Law enforcement and community safety
•Economic development and prevention
•Cross-cutting vulnerabilities (GBV, youth, mental health, LGBTIQ+)
• Implementation of the NDMP 2025–30 suggested strategies

All accepted inputs will inform the official Summit Resolutions Document and post-Summit implementation actions.

The Central Drug Authority (CDA), in collaboration with the Department of Social Development, other government departments and civil society partners,  invites all stakeholders to register for the CDA 4th Biennial Summit, at which:

The in-draft National Drug Master Plan 2025-30 will be unpacked and  endorsed

Reflections on the reality of substance use in communities and solutions  discussed towards a. Whole of Society”, approach in implementing the NDMP 2025-30.
