The event marked 20 years since the Civil Union Act was signed into law — a landmark moment for LGBTI rights in South Africa 🇿🇦
We were joined by two remarkable voices:
✨ Former Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, who signed the Act into law in 2006 and shared her reflections on the journey to get there
⚖️ Former Justice Edwin Cameron, a towering figure in South Africa’s legal history and a champion of legal recognition for same-sex partnerships
While this milestone is worth celebrating 🎉, growing pushback on gender and equality rights reminds us that the work is far from over. Strong alliances and shared values are more important than ever.

May 25th marks Africa Day, the anniversary of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, a landmark moment in the continent’s push for independence, unity, and self-determination.

Africa is not a country. It is 54 nations, over 2,000 languages, ancient civilisations, and the world’s youngest and fastest-growing population.

Today is a reminder that the continent’s story is one of resilience, and that its future is being written right now, by Africans themselves.

Yesterday we celebrated Norwegian Constitution Day at Ambassador Anne Beate’s residence 🇳🇴 Music, Norwegian sausages, ice cream, and games for the children is the standard agenda.
