NHLS SCIENTISTS PUT WOMEN’S HEALTH UNDER THE MICROSCOPE
Johannesburg: As South Africa wraps up Women’s Month, the National Health Laboratory Service
(NHLS) is putting science at the centre of the national conversation on women’s health, bring
ing its
scientists, researchers and scientific expertise to the forefront of some of the most pressing health challenges affecting women in the country.
On Monday, 31 August 2026, NHLS scientists and experts
will lead a public webinar under the theme Women’s Health: "Our Challenges. Our Science. Our Future, taking science beyond the laboratory to unpack the research, diagnostics, evidence and scientific advances shaping women’s health in South Africa."
External stakeholders, including members of the public and the media, are invited to register for and participate in this free webinar using the link provided below. The session will offer direct access to
leading scientists and experts, who will unpack the evidence behind some of the health challenges confronting South African women and highlight the scientific work underway to improve diagnosis,
treatment and health outcomes.
The webinar offers journalists an opportunity to interrogate the science, engage the experts and access credible South African scientific perspectives on women’s health, while exploring the critical role of laboratory medicine, research and diagnostics in building a healthier future for women.
