♦️MUST WATCH ♦️
On 26 April 2025, the Commander-in-Chief of the EFF, Julius Malema, during the Funeral of the late Mama Winnie Mphahlele , exposed the collapse of governance in Mogalakwena Local Municipality and the incompetence of Mayor Thulane. More than a year later, nothing has changed. Despite community complaints, EFF interventions, and marches, residents continue to suffer from poor service delivery.
Potholes remain a daily reality in Hospital View, Mahwelereng, Masodi, and many other areas. Roads continue to deteriorate while the municipality remains unresponsive. Whenever communities raise concerns, the Mayor is unavailable, detached, and unwilling to address the challenges facing residents.
The water crisis in Mahwelereng, Rebone, Mokopane, and surrounding communities continues unabated. Residents are subjected to water shortages and dirty water while prepaid water meters are being imposed on poor and indigent households, forcing people to pay for a basic human right.
At the same time, mining companies continue to generate enormous wealth from our communities while many young people remain unemployed and residents see little benefit from the resources extracted from their land. Communities are left with poor roads, water shortages, and rising poverty while others profit from their resources.
Premier Phophi Ramathuba is fresh from the ANC elective conference, where the very same Mayor played a key role in delivering her victory. This makes it difficult for the people of Mogalakwena to believe that she will act decisively against him. The reality is that the ANC is unlikely to remove him leaving communities trapped under incompetent leadership until the next local government elections.
