The office will re-open, on 25 May 2026 at 08H45.

In the interim, all payments are kindly requested to be directed to alternative payment points.

RE: POWER OUTAGE AFFECTING VENTERSDORP REGION

The JB Marks Local Municipality wishes to inform residents in the Ventersdorp Region that the entire Ventersdorp area is currently experiencing a power outage due to a fault on the Eskom network. In the early hours of Thursday, 21 May 2026, a flash light was reportedly observed in the Lichtenburg area, which is believed to be linked to the outage.

Eskom has confirmed that the power outage affecting customers in Ventersdorp, Makokskraal, Coligny Rural, and surrounding areas was caused by cable theft on the network. Eskom technicians are currently attending to the fault and replacing the stolen infrastructure in order to restore electricity supply to all affected customers. The estimated time for restoration is approximately 23h00 tonight.

The area continues to experience recurring criminal activities targeting electricity infrastructure, with incidents occurring almost weekly. Community members are urged to work together in combating infrastructure-related crimes by reporting any suspicious or criminal activities.

The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality remains committed to transparent and integrated planning for the 2026/2027 financial year. The IDP Representative Forum convened to ensure that our development strategies are aligned across all sector departments. The meeting was held at Dan Tloome Chambers from 09H00.

The session was chaired by the Executive Mayor of Dr Kenneth Kaunda Destrict Municipality, Cllr. Nikiwe Num, with the Acting Executive Mayor of JB Marks Local Municipality, Cllr. Musa Leon Mkhabela co-chairing.

Cllr. Mkhabela in ​his welcoming address, emphasised the importance of unified efforts in addressing the needs of our communities. Mr. Melvin Rampedi, the Acting Municipal Manager of the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality clearly outlined the purpose of the day, guiding all stakeholders through the necessary consultations to ensure that the Integrated Development Plan accurately reflects the priorities of the district. This vital collaboration between government departments is the cornerstone of effective service delivery.
