WARD 57 | RESTORING DIGNITY THROUGH ACTION

Today, Ward 57 Councillor Zanele Boyana continued working with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality to ensure that families affected by shack fires receive practical assistance.

Building materials were delivered to 5 affected households today, with the remaining outstanding materials to be delivered as the process continues.

The affected areas include:

* Ndlovini Informal Settlement
* eDolweni Informal Settlement
* Vukani Informal Settlement
* Mpheko Street – affected household

For Councillor Zanele Boyana, this intervention is about more than materials. It is about restoring dignity, supporting families and ensuring that residents are not left alone when disaster strikes.

The work continues, and there are still households that require assistance. But today’s progress demonstrates what is possible when a councillor remains connected to the community and takes residents’ concerns forward.

Ward 57 is a community that deserves to be heard, supported and served.

The NMBM Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has received the impact based Weather Warning from the South African Weather Service (SAWS).The Yellow Level 2 Disruptive Rain Warning for 02 September at 08:14 until 04 September 2026 at 23h59 for your attention and consideration.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions and stay alert all the time.They are also advised to be awesome of flooded areas when driving,and try to avoid them,if possible, especially areas that are prone to flooding.Don’t make fires indoors without proper ventilation and fires must be kept away from high risk buildings.
