We specialize in Emergency calls, Transfers, Event Support and First Aid Training.

On May 5, 2026, Gardmed Ambulance Service Port Alfred received a call for a serious motor vehicle accident a few kilometres away from Kenton On Sea.

Our crews mobilised and on arrival found two vehicles had collided. Multiple roleplayers attended the scene and one of the patients involved in this collision was Captain Slabbert. Our team transported Captain Slabbert to hospital and from that point in time onwards he has seen many healthcare professionals on his road to recovery.

Rohan Benn, one of our medics who attended the scene, recently visited Captain Slabbert to see how he was doing and we are pleased to report he is on the mend thanks to all roleplayers and medical personnel involved in his care.

This morning around 5am, our control room received a call for a medical emergency on a ship approximately 8 nautical miles off the coast of Gqeberha. We immediately dispatched an advanced life support ambulance to the harbour. On arrival at the harbour our team met up with NSRI station 6.

Our crew then boarded the NSRI rescue craft and together made their way to the scene. The patient was located, stabilised and then transported back to shore on the rescue craft. Thanks to the amazing teamwork between NSRI, the ship’s crew and our medics, the medevac went smoothly and the patient was conveyed to hospital in a stable condition.

- BLS (Kariega/Uitenhage branch)
- ECA/ILS and BLS (Jeffrey's Bay branch)
- BLS (Cape St. Francis branch)

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Minimum 2 years medical experience is essential (it would be beneficial if this experience
was with a private service)
2. Current registration with the HPCSA
3. Professional, clear and well-spoken telephone manner and a willingness to teach.
4. An ability to work calmly under pressure during periods of high call volumes.
5. Be reliable, have a positive attitude, with contactable references.

Every year our Kariega team attends the Hoërskool Despatch first aider’s motor vehicle accident simulation. This simulation takes place with multiple roleplayers and we have participated in this program for several years. Hoërskool Despatch has an active first aider program that we are privileged to be involved with. The below photographs were taken at the 2026 display which was held recently.

Nurses Day 2026 saw our medics around the province visiting multiple healthcare facilities, showing their appreciation for the amazing work that nurses do. Nurses have an incredibly important role in the emergency medical service and we salute you!

Another successful Ironman complete! Thank you to our amazing team of medics, other roleplayers and organizers for all of their hard work that went into Ironman 2026. Incredible athletes from around the world took part in this grueling triathlon that was hosted in Gqeberha.
