🚨 While crime continues to spiral out of control in Nelson Mandela Bay, the Municipality has once again postponed a critical Safety and Security Committee meeting.

Residents deserve a municipality that takes their safety seriously. Delaying oversight and accountability when communities are facing escalating crime is unacceptable.

The DA is demanding answers and urgent action to ensure that public safety is treated as the priority it should be.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – LORRAINE / SUMMERSTRAND / ROWALLAN PARK / ARLINGTON SUBSTATIONS

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents of a power supply interruption affecting areas supplied by the Lorraine, Summerstrand, Rowallan Park and Arlington 132kV Substations.

The Municipality has experienced a loss of supply to these substations, resulting in electricity outages in affected areas. Standby operators have been assigned and are currently investigating the cause of the interruption.

At this stage, the exact cause of the outage has not yet been determined. Technical teams are working to assess the situation and gather the necessary information to facilitate the safe restoration of supply.

The Municipality understands the inconvenience and frustration that power outages cause for residents, businesses and essential services. We thank all affected customers for their patience and understanding while investigations are underway.

Further updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available.

A power outage is currently affecting various parts of the Metro, including the majority of Ward 3.

Unfortunately, there has been no communication from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality at this stage. We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep residents updated as soon as further information becomes available🙏🏻

Due to ongoing electricity outages in NMBM, the Municipality’s call centres, WhatsApp service and email systems are currently unavailable. Technical teams are monitoring the situation and services will be restored as soon as power supply is stabilised.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE – CHATTY SUBSTATION

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform residents that a major electricity outage is currently affecting a large portion of Nelson Mandela Bay following the tripping of the Ditchling 1 and Ditchling 2 132kV circuit breakers at the Chatty Substation.

Technical teams are currently investigating the cause of the trip and are working to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible.

đź“Ť AFFECTED AREAS:
A large number of areas across Nelson Mandela Bay are currently impacted by this outage. The full extent of the affected network is still being assessed.

Updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.

The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their patience and understanding while technical teams work to restore power.
