Revolutional Greetings Nelson Mandela University Students
Now that the initial excitement is gone, letโs dive deeper into the EFFSC driving school initiative.
Here is a detailed breakdown:
Students are required to contribute R2000 (40%)
The EFFSC SRC commits to cover R3000 (60%)
Total Cost: R5000

๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐:
1. The biggest Red flag is that the EFFSC SRC is paying the EFFSC NMU (Political organization) money to operate a driving school. This alone raises questions about the transparency and necessity of such an arrangement.
2. The tuition fee charged by the EFF NMU is notably higher than the average rates of driving schools in Port Elizabeth. While most driving schools charge around R3500, with some reaching R4000, the EFF NMU demands a significant R5000.
3. The pricing employed by the EFF NMU seems to include a very big profit margin, which contradicts with the expectations one might have for a non-profit venture. A more reasonable fee structure would likely range from R2000 to R2500 if this was indeed a genuine initiative.
4. The fact that there was no formal bidding process among local student-owned driving schools is concerning. Had such an approach been undertaken, there would be more cost-effective options, such as Park n Pass in North Campus, charging R4000 negotiable to R3500 for a full course, could have been considered.

The lack of transparency and apparent profiteering within this initiative reflects poorly on the leadership of the EFFSC at NMU, and raises serious questions about the integrity of their governance.
