Grey Junior School is a leading boys’ school in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, and celebrates over 160 years of rich heritage and tradition; firm foundations upon which we continue to build with confidence today. The aim of providing diverse opportunities for boys to develop to their full potential has not changed since 1856, and our motto, Tria Juncta in Uno, encapsulates our belief in the balan

ced development of body, mind and spirit (Three Joined in One). Our educational philosophy is expressed in our commitment to:

- The maintenance of a disciplined teaching and learning environment;
- The development of self-discipline, self-confidence and self-identity;
- The pursuit of high standards and personal excellence;
- The promotion of positive attitudes and values systems;
- The development of social conscience and service to community;
- The promotion of environmental awareness;
- The acquisition of accurate and useful knowledge and understanding;
- The promotion of relevant 21st century skills, including collaboration,
communication, creativity, critical thinking, innovation, leadership,
entrepreneurship, adaptability and resilience;

It is our sincere hope that Grey Junior boys will grow up to become men who are recognised by their commitment to excellence in all things, admired for their courageous spirits and respected for their character; ready to play their part in the rapidly changing world.

Our 13A Hockey team leaves tomorrow for the SA Prep Schools Hockey Festival 2026, hosted by DPHS from 3–5 September.

At Friday’s assembly, we were delighted to be joined by representatives from our official kit sponsors, Brian Bands Sports and Axxess, who handed over the team’s kit and wished the boys well ahead of the festival. We are incredibly grateful for their generous support.

We wish the boys and coaching staff safe travels and a fantastic festival.

Two of our Grade 3 boys have made us very proud lately!

Daniel Horne won the Spelling Bee Cluster Round at Erica Girls on Tuesday. After many rounds of sudden death, Daniel came through with the win and now progresses to the next round.

Joshua Dillon placed third in the cluster stage of the Grade 3 Mental Maths Quiz.

Well done, Daniel and Joshua. We are so proud of you both!

A special thank you to our Music Department, Mrs Jacqui Mintoor and the Grey Junes moms for organising such a lovely event and sharing the joy of music with so many young learners.

As part of their Life Skills programme, our Grade 7s have been busy exploring the world of work during Career Week, and today they wrapped things up with presentations from Dr Trishia Coetzee, Peter Simmons and Liesel Greyvenstein.

The team from Greyvensteins brought the courtroom to Grey Junior with an entertaining mock trial, where Thomas Dix-Kruger found himself on trial for allegedly moving Mr Butler’s car to the middle of the school fields!

A great way to round off a week of learning about the many paths that lie ahead. A big thank you to all our guest speakers for giving their time and sharing their experiences with our boys.
