Rural Health Matters Team Performs 125 Life-Changing Operations

[Mopani]MEC for Health in Limpopo, Ms Dieketseng Mashego, has commended the Rural Health Matters Outreach Team for their outstanding dedication and commitment to bringing specialised healthcare services closer to communities in Mopani District.

The outreach programme, conducted from 8–10 June 2026, achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully performing 125 operations in just three days, restoring hope and improving the quality of life for many patients who would otherwise face long waiting periods for surgical procedures.

MEC MASHEGO UNVEILS 61 STATE-OF-THE-ART MOBILE CLINICS TO EXPAND HEALTHCARE ACCESS ACROSS LIMPOPO

[ Mogalakwena ]MEC for Health in Limpopo, Ms Dieketseng Mashego, today unveiled and officially distributed 61 newly procured, well-equipped and fit-for-purpose mobile clinics during Phase 1 of the provincial rollout at Bavaria Village in Mogalakwena Local Municipality.

The unveiling marks a significant milestone in strengthening Primary Health Care services and improving access to healthcare for communities in remote and underserved areas across the province.

The 61 mobile clinics form part of a total fleet of 125 new mobile clinics procured by the Department and allocated across all districts in Limpopo.

The new fleet represents a major improvement from the old mobile clinics, offering larger and more functional spaces designed to enhance service delivery.

Each mobile clinic is equipped with a refrigerator for medicine storage, a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted services, oxygen supply, a fully fitted consulting room with a patient bed, built-in cabinets, hand-wash basin, screening tables and chairs, creating a conducive environment for quality healthcare services.

Speaking during the unveiling, MEC Mashego reaffirmed the Department's commitment to bringing healthcare services closer to the people and ensuring that no community is left behind. The modern mobile clinics will strengthen preventative, promotive and curative healthcare services while reducing barriers to access for residents living far from fixed health facilities.

The deployment of these mobile clinics demonstrates the Limpopo Department of Health's continued investment in improving healthcare infrastructure and advancing universal access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.
