Today we take a moment to recognise and honour three dedicated members of LEDET who have reached the milestone of retirement — Jack Seakamela, James Baloi, and Riaan de Jager.
Between them, these gentlemen have devoted decades of service to environmental management and protection in Limpopo. Jack’s journey with LEDET began in 1993, while James has been in government service since as early as 1982, with the two working closely together in the Environment sector since 1998. Their shared commitment and partnership over the years have left a lasting impact on the department and the work they have done.
James Baloi, who many will remember from his time in Polokwane before transferring to Mokopane, has been a steady and valued presence throughout his career. Likewise, Riaan de Jager, who has served since the early 1990s within the Directorate of Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, has played a key role as a District Head, contributing significantly to environmental governance in the province.
Their years of dedication, experience, and passion have helped shape the environmental landscape we know today. The legacy they leave behind will continue to inspire those who follow in their footsteps.
We thank them for their invaluable service and wish them all the very best in this new chapter of life. May it be filled with rest, good health, and many new adventures.
