SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING: 19 JUNE 2026
Today, the Municipality convened a Special Council Meeting in the Council Chambers, Pofadder, where Council considered key matters in accordance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).

Council approved the 2026/2027 Annual Budget and Budget-Related Policies and adopted the Amended Integrated Development Plan (IDP) for 2026/2027, ensuring continued alignment between planning, budgeting and service delivery priorities.

The approved operational budget amounts to R102 million, with a capital investment programme of approximately R39 million to support infrastructure development across the municipality. Capital funding includes:
• R27 million through the Water Services Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) for the upgrading of the Pella Wastewater Treatment Plant;
• R8.493 million through the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) to continue the Pella Bulk Water Supply Phase 2 Project; and
• R3.5 million through the Integrated National Electrification Programme (INEP) to complete the electrification of 22 houses at the 198 stands in Pofadder.

To maintain and improve essential services, Council approved the following tariff adjustments with effect from 1 July 2026:
• Water Services: 6%
• Refuse Removal: 6%
• Sanitation Services: 6%
• Electricity Tariffs: 9.8%
• Property Rates: 10%

The approved budget reflects Council's commitment to responsible financial management, sustainable infrastructure investment and improved service delivery for all communities within Khâi-Ma Municipality
