Do join us for "Mayine The Rain Queen", a captivating theatrical performance promoting water preservation through the traditional African oral storytelling method. Join us to welcome Makhubalo the Storyteller to the Ashburton Aloe Festival to perform it for us this year!
The message of the story is that “every drop counts”. The show has been staged at prominent schools and conferences all over South Africa.
KHUBA STORIES is a dynamic creative platform founded by Makhubalo Ikaneng, with over two decades of experience in educational and socially conscious storytelling. The company was established to package and share Makhubalo’s extensive body of work with clients in both the public and private sectors, in South Africa and globally. At its core, KHUBA STORIES harnesses the power of African storytelling, theatre, and multimedia to spark dialogue, raise awareness, and inspire change. Makhubalo’s work reaches individuals, families, and entire communities—amplifying voices and tackling critical issues such as water preservation, social justice, and youth empowerment.
Bring your campchairs or blankets (limited chairs are available) and afternoon picnic or support the Conservancy Tea Garden for refreshments.
To make this production possible we are charging an additional ticket of R50 (all ages).
Aloe Festival tickets cost R50 per person per day, R30 for pensioners and R20 for children, under 6 are free. (Cash for ticket sales and venue stalls please as signal for electronic devices is limited) Strictly no dogs allowed. All funds raised go to support the anti-poaching activities of the Lower Mpushini Valley Conservancy and Mpushini Protected Environment.
