PREMIER NTULI TO VISIT VUSIMUZI HIGH SCHOOL AHEAD OF CRIME FIGHTING IMBIZO IN MANDENI, UNDER ILEMBE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, will on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, visit Vusimuzi High School in Mandeni, following the tragic murder of a learner at the school.

The visit forms part of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government’s ongoing efforts to respond decisively to incidents of violence and crime affecting learners and communities. Premier Ntuli will engage with the school community, educators, learners and other stakeholders on the need to strengthen measures that safeguard learners and create a secure environment conducive to teaching and learning.

Following the school visit, the Premier will lead a Crime-Fighting Imbizo aimed at bringing together communities and key stakeholders to develop a coordinated and sustainable response to crime.

The Imbizo will mobilise traditional leaders, civil society organisations, law enforcement agencies, faith-based organisations, youth structures, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to work collectively in confronting crime and addressing the underlying factors that contribute to insecurity in communities.

Premier Ntuli is expected to emphasise that the fight against crime cannot be left to law enforcement agencies alone. It requires an active partnership between government and communities, supported by effective policing, community participation, responsible leadership and collective action.

The Imbizo will also provide an opportunity for community members to raise their concerns, share information and contribute to practical interventions aimed at preventing crime, protecting vulnerable members of society and strengthening community safety.

PREMIER NTULI TO VISIT MAKHOBA FAMILY FOLLOWING FATAL SHOOTING IN MANDENI

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, will on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, visit the Makhoba family following the tragic murder of 52-year-old Mr Bonginkosi Makhoba and Ms Thembani Ngiba in the Nembe area, under the Mandeni Local Municipality.

Preliminary information indicates that two unidentified males allegedly entered the residence of Mr Makhoba, where they fatally shot Mr Makhoba and Ms Ngiba.

Premier Ntuli will visit the bereaved family to convey his condolences and offer support during this difficult period. The Premier is deeply concerned by the loss of life and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and members of the public are urged to allow the South African Police Service to conduct its investigation without interference.

PREMIER THAMI NTULI CALLS OUT LEAKS AND EXTORTIONISTS DURING MANDENI BLITZ

KZN Premier Thami Ntuli took the Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla operation to Isithebe Industrial Zone in Mandeni, only to find several factory doors shut tight. Workers on the scene revealed that news of the unannounced raid had been leaked, prompting employers to release staff early and lock up.

Premier Ntuli strongly condemned the security leak, promising a full police investigation to uncover who tipped off the businesses. He also took a firm stance against the extortion cartels impacting businesses across KwaZulu-Natal.

PREMIER NTULI DECLARES "SEPTEMBER" A MONTH OF CLEANING KZN THROUGH INTENSIFIED DISTRICT OPERATIONS.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, has declared September a month of intensified cleaning and law enforcement operations across the Province, through the implementation of Operation Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla.

The operation, conducted across various districts, is aimed at restoring law and order, strengthening border security, ensuring compliance with legislation, and addressing illegal activities that undermine the safety and wellbeing of communities.

During the operation, 29 suspects were arrested for being in the Province unlawfully, while some businesses were closed for non compliance with relevant laws and regulatory requirements.

Premier Ntuli has emphasised that the operations will continue throughout September, with government working alongside law-enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to create safer communities, enforce accountability and ensure that everyone operating in the Province complies with the law.
