As part of the N2/N3 Investment Committee Co-chaired by UMEDA, The Agency proudly participated in a Road Safety Education Programme hosted by the Strive 4 Purpose Organisation at Botha's Hill Primary School.

The session brought great excitement and enthusiasm among the learners, who gained valuable knowledge on road safety and responsible pedestrian behaviour. Through interactive engagement and practical guidance, learners were educated on how to safely navigate roads, make informed decisions, and protect themselves in their daily lives.

Investing in road safety awareness among young people is an important step towards building safer communities and empowering future generations with life-saving knowledge.

The Agency together with Siwa Consulting & Project Managers conducted a site visit to the Howick Falls Phase 2, Information Centre Project to assess progress and review ongoing construction activities.

It was encouraging to witness the project reaching an important milestone, with the team currently in the process of casting the concrete slab for the new facility. This marks a significant step forward in the development of the Information Centre, bringing the project closer to becoming a modern tourism asset that will enhance the visitor experience at Howick Falls.

This progress reflects the continued commitment to enhancing Howick Falls Precinct as a premier tourism destination and creating a modern information centre that will better serve visitors and the local community.

UMEDA Film Office Continues Historical Engagement at the HS Msimang Museum

Yesterday, UMEDA Film Office continued its historical and educational engagement through a visit to the HS Msimang Museum, following the successful History and Filming Forum that we hosted on 18 May 2026.

The purpose of the visit was to deepen our understanding of South African history, particularly the significance of Isandlwana and the Battle of Blood River (Impi yaseNcome). During the visit, we participated in an informative forum led by Mr. Leko Msimang, who provided valuable insights into the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 and the historic Battle of Isandlwana.

The visit provided UMEDA members with an enriching opportunity to engage directly with historical knowledge, heritage preservation, and the stories that have shaped our nation. As an organisation committed to education, youth development, and community engagement, UMEDA remains dedicated to creating platforms that encourage learning, dialogue, and a greater appreciation of our shared history.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the HS Msimang Museum and Mr. Leko Msimang for their warm welcome and for sharing their wealth of knowledge. Such engagements continue to inspire us to preserve and celebrate the rich history of South Africa for future generations.

Today, UMEDA conducted a site visit to Msinsi Holdings' tourism facilities at Albert Falls as part of the ongoing collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UMEDA and Msinsi Holdings.

The visit forms part of UMEDA's continued commitment to identifying strategic investment opportunities and supporting the implementation of a commercialisation strategy aimed at revitalising Msinsi Holdings' tourism outlets. Through this partnership, we are working towards enhancing these facilities, attracting private sector investment, increasing visitor numbers, and unlocking new economic opportunities for local communities.

In addition to the revitalisation of the tourism assets, the site visit highlighted a significant opportunity for the development of a world-class Training and Development Facility. UMEDA will actively seek potential investors and strategic partners to support the establishment of this facility, which has the potential to become a centre of excellence for skills development, training, and innovation within the district.

These initiatives will contribute significantly to job creation, enterprise development, tourism growth, and the overall economic advancement of the uMgungundlovu District and beyond.
